Well guys Santa came early this year with a Savage Model 10 Predator .260 and what are y'all running? It has a 24 in barrel 1-8 twist. I have 100 new Lapua brass and 120 grain Barnes TTSX, 130 gr Berger HVLDS, 123 grain Lapua Scenars. I also bought a box of 140 grain Federal Premium 140 grain Sierra's for break in and sighting in. The powders I have are H4350, Varget, RL22, RL15. The primers will be WLR. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks for your time.

I'm not exactly a guru, but I am on my second 260 and it gets a good bit of work. All hunting and paper punching, no competition type shooting. The last year or so I've been using the 100 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip over IMR 4064 (near max load) and CCI BR primers. Right now, the cases are RP. Accuracy in my Tikka is terrific, and the bullet works great on deer, pigs, and coyote. I may go back to the 120 gr Nosler next year. I load that one over R17 and load it pretty hot. You've got a good assortment of bullets, and you already have the powder I may switch to..the H4350.

H-4350
140 gr Hornady A-max even with the lands
CCI 200 primers
MV 2800 fps out of a 24" 1:8.4" twist Obermeyer

The A-max is what I use to compete with, and hunt with. I've got several pics of dead critters using the A-max, and it shoots extremely consistent. It's my favorite rig.

Once the barrel gets 200 to 250 rounds on it, it's highly possible they'll make 2900 fps +

I ran 500 of those out of my 260 and loved them! But when you run a 260 at 243 speeds you'll cook a barrel in 1200 rounds. I have to worry about that, most everyone else doesn't. They are mighty fine bullets for a 260 and 6.5 Creedmoor.

I with you fireman I don't have a lot of money to invest in barrels. What do you think a good speed on bullets is to preserve barrel life? I would rather have more accuracy than speed. I know what people say though you can't miss fast enough rifle

If you stick with the 140 gr A-maxes, around 2800 fps, 2000 rounds plus is not unreasonable. The 130's and 140's both shoot extremely well. The wind hold for both is the same. The 140's fall a bit more, but that doesn't matter when you have the right scope on top of the rifle.

It's been my experience that your gun either loves them or it hates them. I've never had good luck with Bergers, but some people swear by them.
