I duck hunted sparingly many years ago when peanut farming was prevalent and the ducks were plentiful. However, there have been relatively few ducks in the area since the peanut operations ceased. I have some good tanks, but no birds to speak of. I would like to get back into it, but I honestly don't know where to begin. Are guided hunts my only option? I'm surely not opposed to paying for hunts, but I can't do it every time I want to go. Located in the Brownwood/Comanche area. Any suggestions?

i cant help with getting birds to your tanks.

i would try and research to see if the are any public hunting grounds in your area!!

guides can give you a big jump start in the learning curve!!

as far as getting started might get a few decoys and try to do some scouting!!

I'd sit on some of those tanks in the morning. You may have birds coming in that you don't know about. Other options are public land and guided hunts.

If your tanks were covered in peanut days but not now I'm going say they were just loafing and drinking water on them. All the big corps lakes around me were covered in ducks when they grew peanuts here and now they hardly have ducks on them. The small tanks get all the action now.
