I've got a cheap blackpowder I remember shooting maybe 15-20 years ago. I guess it still works. Who knows.

My first one was a 16 ga shotgun bolt action that had become a SS. Had one 1 B Buckshot Shell. I took my best buck in John Durhams field in Forest Tx wghtd 138 lbs cut and wrapped. Old 8 point. Only took me 3 yrs to learn to walk up on him.

First was an Argentine Mauser purchased for $25 from the NRA. Second was a .45 flintlock rifle I built myself. Killed deer with both of them.

My first deer rifle was a Marlin 30-30, I also had a 303 British later. My first BP rifle was a Traditions bolt action in .45 cal. Killed first deer with it with open sights at 135 yds. Put scope on it and my son killed one later that week at about the same distance. I have been using a CVA breakover in .50 cal. the last few years but may take the .45 to the range next week and compare it to the .50. Our ML season opens here about the 5th of Jan. b

tradition's bolt action, that use 209 primer, confused2 my .45's are side lock. started ta get marlin 30-30 older winchesters if wanted ta use scope had to go with sidemount, they came out with little different side ejection so stayed with winchester. hangfire sounds like muzzy few times have heard k but no boom then white flag. flag

Yep, that's what they called it when I was in the US Army. K with no boom. Also have a CVA bolt action .45, tink it is called a 209, uses 209 primer. I like the CVA design better than the Traditions with the bolt as the CVA cockls the hammer on opening of the bolt where the Traditions cocks on closing. Whan the Traditions is fired a few time the bolt becomes very hard to close sometimes. b

up for your service. thinking bolt, & break over are 209 primers in-line, primers arin-line with barrell & charge. the powder mixture is different. my .45's are side lock, not able ta shoot the pellets, mainly cause of smaller primer & not in-line with charge can bye a hot-shot nipple, all that amounts to is hole drilled little bigger. enough of that. Merry Christmas flag

1st deer rifle was a handed down Marlin 30-30 from my Dad at Christmas. Second I bought, and was a used Remington pump 30-06. 1st Muzzleloader was a CVA Wolf in 50 cal.
