I'm looking to go dove hunting tomorrow and was curious to hear if anyone had any input on the second opening of dove season Vs the first, Which is better if one even is better? Also are there any projections for this season? I am going hunting near La Grange.

Thanks Guys

They tend to fly in large numbers in the second split. Very fun hunting if you are on the x.

I hunted yesterday afternoon and was covered with birds and killed an easy limit of mourning doves in the stiff wind south of Austin. The fields were too wet to drive in so I decided to take the chance and walked in. I had seen large groups early Saturday morning during the rain so I figured it might be worth the effort. It was by far the best day I've had this season and birds were everywhere feeding on ripe croton. If you can find feed the birds should be there.
