Good Morning,

I am looking for a spot to take my brother in law Duck Hunting before he goes to Haiti to be a missionary for 2+ years. I am in Decatur Area and have done some scouting in Caddo/LBJ and didn't see a whole lot of positive results and I want the hunt to be worth while for him. We are open to anywhere in the DFW area.

Thanks,
Brad

I think if you put in at Buck Creek on Ray Roberts you'll shoot limits.

Been reading on Ray ROberts and it looks like a good spot... One Question, do yo uneed a boat to hunt duck?

This is the section i am referring to: SPECIAL REGULATIONS: All hunters must enter at a designated access point or boat ramp. It is an offense to hunt on the land or water within 100 yards of State Park boundaries

Yeah a boat would be helpfull, a lot of guys are using bass boats these days. You'll want to put out a BUNCH of decoys and call a lot. You need to CALL NONSTOP to get the attention of the birds in that area. Probably want at least three or 4 mojos in the spread too. up

If you go to Buck creek this saturday you will want to be there around 6-6:15am to beat any crowd that might be there.

tx_cope - you're not going to get a real answer to your question. Asking for someone's hunting spot is akin to asking your best friend if you can date his sister. It ain't gonna work out well for ya...

I'm assuming your knowledge of the area is pretty limited and you don't have a lot of time to scout.

Pay for a guide. There are several in the NTX area that will give you a good memorable hunt for about $150/day. Do that and enjoy the hunt with your brother.

No Sptaylor, I think Kdub's got this one under control, if you act a little faster next time maybe you can get the next one.

Thanks ARQuacker - however I am a one income family with 3 kids under 4, so paying for a guide is not an option. And I feel like I have got quite a few good answers.

Make the drive to centex, there is 3 lakes holding a lot of birds and the line starts early Friday evening. Me and garrett sold barrel stickers and acrylic pintail whistles last year and did very well.
