Wondering if anyone has a "lead" on a good tanner. The taxidermist I have used raised his prices to $350 (have no problem wit that BTW his choice)

I have found a few hair-on tanners in Montana that are $9 sq foot, but then the shipping brings it up.

Not something I "have to have done", but could use one more to balance out the ones I have, that the wife uses over the couches.

I used to have 100's of hides (Ostrich) done, but that was years ago and I cant remember the name, but that was a whole different ball game anyhoo.

Thanks for any leads/thoughts you fellas may have.

Oh geussing the hide is 20-30 sq ft. taken this year.

Thanks BOBO , One of the Taxidermist I use, had to go there and pick up WT hides that have been waiting for over 14 months (one was mine), the other Taxidermist, quit using them for the same reason (poor turn around).

Word is they do excellent work and are nice folks though, just drag their feet to much. Wouldn't have been a big deal, but they told me "90 day's" when I took my WT hide in and the Taxidermist wasn't able to get answers over the phone.

Tanning is pretty easy. If you are having that much done, you might as well learn to do it yourself.

For $20, I'd be happy at 12 months too!! I paid $125 for one WT, but not sure how much "mark-up" the Taxidermist charged. I will call them and check anyhoo, may be worth a 12-18month wait for an Elk hide if the price is right.

I would love too, but the time factor. I have even bought the hair on tanning kit years ago and still have it.. LOL

Got a quote from them for $320, so I guess my Taxidermist was not making anything on this.

NTT has always taken 2-3 months for my hides and charges $32 for a whitetail hide.

Great people to deal with. It does take a little while, but for the price and quality there is no comparison.

does the north texas tannery do bobcats? will they put a rug or felt linner on the bottom of it like a rug? what do they do if i want the head on it? prefer the skull with closed mouth, kinda like a bear rug, where are they located? just wondering if i could just stop in and drop it off and talk to them and possiably see some of there work.
