Hey everybody, here's a quick review of my new YHM 6.8 SPC. I bought this rifle a couple of weeks ago from Bear Creek Firearms up in Keller for a hog hunt in Lubbock that didn't happen last week because of the ice Oh well...we'll take it out for some whitetail action later Well...today was the day. We are down near Brownwood enjoying some MLDP doe whackin action and it didn't disappoint. We had 4 does come in a little over 100 yards tonight. We took the biggest one which went 92lbs on the hoof. I prefer not to blow out the front shoulder when we meat hunt so the shot was intentionally a little back. I was using 115 grain Federal Fusion. We waited a little bit after the shot then went looking for her. Wish I had gotten a pic but we had a great blood trail straight to her. She went less than 40 yards then sacked up. See the pics below for the wound size and location. Overall I am very happy with this rifle. It's a YHM 6.8 SPC with a Leupold VX-R 3-9x40. It shot right at 1" at 100 yards last week and I bet it'll do much better once we get some brass for hand loads. Either way, I consider this a 150 yards or less rifle and it did just great. Very happy. Enjoy! Our stand location: Entrance: Entrance: Exit:

Cool I have shot a lot of deer and pigs with a 6.8 over the last 6 years. I am utterly confident in one out to 300

I shot a doe with mine last week and I hit it right through both shoulders. It ruined both front quarters but the doe didn go more than 10 yards.

You know... You are lucky you hit bone with that fusion round. If you had been using ballistic tip on that rear lung shot, the exit hole would have been 3 times that size and there would have been no reason to look for a blood trail.
Funny thing about getting older: Your eyesight starts getting weaker but your ability to see through people's BS gets much better.

You consider it a 150 yd rifle? Man that gun will shoot 700 yds without a problem unless it's the shooter ......

150 yards or less ? It's good for way further than that! I've shot a hog at over 400 yards with one

Good luck with bison armory. I talked to john from up there and they are no longer selling 6.8 components. Something about not bring able to get parts for them. As for shot distance, I rarely take shots at anything over 150 yards. Not that it wouldn't handle it but it's just not my preference. Here's a couple pics of a 2nd doe this morning. She was 90 yards and didn't go 20 yards after the shot. The bullet actually wasn't a complete pass thru. Stopped just inside the skin where the exit would should have been. See the pic below. So...what say y'all? Entrance: Exit: Bullet:

Very Nice. I've seen that ammo on the shelf, but didnt really know anything about it. Looks like it does a good job, I might have to try some out.
