I am about to order some supplies for Cabelas. I am going to load some rounds for a Marlin 7mm-08 with a 1:9.5 twist. My plan is to go with the Barnes 120 grain TTSX's.

What powder would you guys recommend?
What primers?
Anything wrong with the RCBS dies?

Thanks guys.

You are going to order primers and powder online? Hazmat will eat you up.
I would go to Cabelas and get your stuff in person. You need to find out what powder is available to buy before asking what folks recommend.
Do you have a manual? If not got to Hodgdon’s website and look to see what powders to use with a 120gr Bullet then print that off and go see if you can get one of the powders listed. Any Large rifle primer will be just fine and RCBS dies are good as well.

My manuals are packed away right now.
I did not know about hazmat shipping. Dang.

I was just trying to get an idea of what powders people were having the best luck with.

Thanks!!

My brother in law used varget and it grouped well. He was loading for my nephews savage and might have been using a bit heavier bullet like a 140 nosler accubond I think. Best group was close to max.

Varget
CCI 200 or Winchester Large Rifle
RCBS is top of the line

Try some 162 gr bullets. Seat any bullet even with the lands.

Consult www.hodgdon.com/reloading for powder charges for Varget, H-4350 or whatever you can get your hands on.

It's a terrific cartridge! I will be adding one to my bag of tricks ASAP.

I would look for H4350 /IMR4350/ W-W760/IMR 4064/H4895/IMR 4895 all will do fine and I listed in order of what I would try first with that bullet weight. We were typing at the same time I did not list Varget as it’s hard to get now I know.

Hazmat is $27.50 per shipment (one fee for both powder and primers). If you're in Granbury, you could easily spend that in transportation costs to and from Cabelas. Assuming Cabelas has the items in stock when you arrive.

I load the bullet for my 7-08 using R15, 210M in Win brass with great accuracy.
RCBS dies will work just fine.

The traffic was so bad when I went last month it took me almost two hours to get there.

Depending on how soon you need primers I may be able to help. I usually order 10-15k fed 210m's and split cost to get the price in the right place for them.

Rl-15 is a good powder but was pretty temp sensitive in my 308 so it got ditched. Varget (hard to find) , 4350, have worked great in my 7-08. I have been using 260 rem brass since I couldn't find brass when I first started the 7-08.

I would find whatever you needed on line and go that route. I order online from a bunch of places and shipping cost less than gas all the time.
