I have a pair of cabelas 3.5 mm. and in TX I'm not sure you need much morebthanbthat with a pair of wader pants under them. As far as socks a pair of thin dress socks with a good pair of wool socks over them is predict.

That is a very good buy.

What are your opinions on the ones that im considering:
Drake MST
Hodgman dura mag
lacrosse swamp tuff pro
cabela super mag
macks pw

I really like the hodgmans I like the handwarmer and shell holder. I like a snug fit high chest wader. I dont wear parkas or wader coats just usually a pullover. so I like the sewn in shell pocket. These are sold out everywhere so Im thinking they are pretty decent.

also what can I do now to keep my feet warm till i get some new waders. I have done the powder, two good pairs of socks.. nothing works when it gets 30 degrees. about two hours is all I can stand and it pisses me off! anybody use fleece lined neoprene socks??

For cold water, I like the Hodgman neoprenes. Mine are going on their seventh season and they still keep my butt dry.

Orvis makes some great breathables with a lifetime warranty.

For keeping your toes warm now, you're going to think I'm crazy but spray some antiperspirant deodorant all over your feet before you put your socks on.

I love my Rogers Toughman waders! Best $150 I've ever spent! You should take a look at them if you haven't already. Free Shipping too.

I had a pair of drakes that I loved that lasted almost a year then just died completely. They made it right though and sent me another pair. We will see how these end up working out.

I love my Cabelas waders. 6-7 seasons on the current pair.

just be sure to order a size up. A lot of people buy waders like they are buying sneakers with a snug fit. Buying a size up makes a huge difference in keeping your feet warm.

I am not saying buy them so big that your feet are sliding out, but leaving your feet room to move around will keep them warmer than any special pair of socks.

No need for new waders. Get some thick wool socks.

I was looking at the rogers but the price threw me off. Having not seen them and not having many photos or close ups on their site. I thought they would be poor quality considering they were 150 bucks. Oh well too late. We need to have THF make a review section so we hunters can post reviews about hunting products all in one spot

I've used Lacrosse, Cabela's and Macks. My lacrosse waders lasted 1/2 of a season. Mack's lasted a season and a 1/2. My cabela's brand...when I punch a hole in them I take them back and get a new pair. I've also found that Cabela's gear is pretty tough stuff. I do a lot of walking, climbing & wallering around in my waders.

As for socks...wool socks. Specifically, Smartwool hiking sock and then a thick wool hunting sock over them. My feet get cold when the weather goes below 70 degrees. This has worked for me for years. I hunted this past weekend in my Cabela's breathable waders and standing in thigh deep water for 5 hours. No issues.

For socks you should look at Thorlo. They have hiking for warm days and hunting for really cold days. And you will appreciate the cushion they have since wader boots have no support.

Go with the Hodgman's!! I love them, and will probably never buy another brand. I just put hand warmers in my boots when my feet get cold.

Key is not to sweat and get cold. Multiple layers always better than old school heavy gear. Hands- under armor liners, hand Warmers, waterfowl water resistant glove- cabellas- get 1 size larger for layers.

Make a toe sandwich w foot Warmers. One on top and bottom. I use 3 layers when 10-25 degrees out. Cabelas has thin layer sock , add Warmers, wool socks, and neoprene booties.

Layer w under armor 4.0 undies top and trowsers. They are for sub freezing temps. Sat I was breaking ice and took my jacket off - burning up.

Beretta wool windbreaker barrier is the sht.

Wear light breathable drakes waders or cabellas. Stay dry- breathe. Heavy waders old technology, IMO.

You could always go with toe warmers in the old pair for now.

I looked at em yesterday. They look great and seem very functional. I've heard good things about them too. They are on sale and if I needed a pair of waders I would get them despite sweating your boys off in early season and warmer days.

I bought a pair of Allen Neo at Academy 2 years ago on sale for 65 bucks. Figured they were cheap and would not last very long.
They have been great so far. 2nd season with no leaks. I hunt 2 to 3 days a week and wear them all the time. Get tangled up in the briars when I hunt tanks and no rips yet. They have a zipper pocket, hand warmer pockets, shell holders and a belt. I would buy another pair if I could find them. I have not seen any since the day I bought these.
