I'm hunting the Wise Denton line off 380 a ways. Been here since 3pm. Had 7 does walk up as I was walking to the stand. Needless to say they took off. Hope they bring a big boy back with them. Good luck to the fellow Wise county hunters. Beautiful day!

Man I'm jealous! Just wasn't willing to attempt 287 and getting stuck up there for the night, if I even made it.
Good luck guys, keep the updates coming.

Kenny, it might be a little late to tell you this, but the roads were good. I drove 65 and 70 down 287 just fine. Had little cars passin me.

I heard target shooting, but nothing that sounded like a "hunter". Any of you boys do any good?

Roads aren't too bad, not great but I think you can get around in a 2wd if you take it easy. Tomorrow morning is gonna be another story. Good luck Wise Co hunters.

Didn't see a animal one move this evening. Could see track in the ice and even seen a few spots of yellow ice. But no deer, hogs, squirrels, or cyotes.

Doe tags are full. Picked the biggest out of 6 at 5:15. Meat in the freezer. I didn't think anyone was dying to see a picture of a doe.

I've hunted Wise County much of my life and have seen two bucks ever that I thought would break 150. I know there are more big bucks near the lake though.
There have been a couple of bucks near me that have scored mid 160's and one that was almost 180.
They're out there, but rare.

Just south of you in flatwood. I know there have been numerous bucks over 150 shot in this area this year and Mr. Dowdy told me there was a 193 shot in the county as well. I know of about 5 over 150 a 168 and a couple more over 160 that have been killed as well

I personally think Wise county is one of those close hunting jewels to the metromess. I often see dead or live deer off of 114 between Aurora and Bridgeport. Good looking country in there with the pecan orchards, watermelon patches and what not. Wish I had a lease that close to home honestly. If a lease were to come up, about how much would a guy expect to spend per gun?

I have lived here all my life and I know a lot of people as well as my family owns a few acres here so I hung for free but it will not be cheap. I know the landowners to every place within 6 miles or so of my house and you won't be able to lease in this area because they won't lease it. A few of them let me hunt because I've helped them on their farms over the years. They also know I won't shoot a young or small one. There is a few landowners here that don't allow hunting and this is the reason we have some big ones in this area. The places are small and if everyone shot a deer there wouldn't be any. 10 years ago you would be lucky to see a deer around here but the numbers have really grown the last few years.
