My buddy killed this in Illinois, Thanksgiving week. I have no idea where he was hunting, other than somewhere in Illinois. It scored 244 5/8

Shot it with a bow. He sent me a video of the kill shot, but for some reason I can't upload it. I can't get my photobucket app to work on my phone.

LOL...are you familiar with them? I wasn't sure if that's where he was or not.

I know a guy who hunted there and I had looked up the website after he talked to me about the place. That's why I recognized the shirt. I know he told me they shoot a ton of 200-300 inchers, he said he enjoyed the place. Great buck, love the mass.

yep. That's why I wanted to post the video. When he turned and looked away, it looked like a moose.

I doubt I would have remained calm enough to put that shot on him.

Does it look like the buck had a wound on it's lower belly prior to the shot to anyone else? Looks like it has a gash, but then you can't see it when it runs.

Long time lurker, first time to post. I don't want to ruffle any feathers about the OP or the deer that was shot. That deer is not really a true representation of the typical deer in Illinois. The "hunting lodge" where this deer was shot is pretty much a pen-raised, high fence operation on maybe 80 acres of ground. I think it is the only game operation in Illinois that allows high powered rifles to be used. it is operated as preserve. You pretty much pick out your deer, have it released at night so it runs around confused and scared so the hunter has ample opportunity to harvest said animal. I am only throwing this out as there because there is no mention of this in the OP or any other reply. Just not my cup of tea

that doesn't offend me at all, I just posted a pic of a deer with a lot of horns that my buddy killed.

With a bow.

I have no clue if it was taken at that ranch or not. I'll ask him tho.

I do know he also has a Diet Mtn. Dew racing jacket, and he doesn't actually race for them. grin

I just talked to my buddy. He did say it was at Samson Whitetail Mountain. But he said it was 1000 acres.

And he said they had a problem with their fence so they cut him a deal on the price because they needed to kill some of the deer off. And, he wasn't even hunting this deer, he said ain't no way he'd hunt this deer with a bow. But he was hunting a smaller deer and this came thru and he had a half a second to make up his mind to shoot it.

He could be lying, I'm not saying he isn't. grin

That may be the biggest white tail ever killed on film with a bow.
