Do any of you put anything on the lens for when it's foggy, to keep the lens from being so saturated? Like RainX? We get very heavy fog out in west TX, just as heavy as the worst sea fog I've ever seen, and I'd like to try to keep it from totally distorting the cam pics if I can.
The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Make sure the lense is not Lexan or Plexiglass type covering because RainX will ruin it.

Usually the cams will work well in spite of fog, because most game cam pics are within 20 yards.

We never put anything on ours. If it gets dirty I just use a lens cloth or a lens pen to clean it up a bit.

I spent some time looking for different rain repellant products yesterday. I will not be using any RainX product.. I read a ton of negative feedback about that particular one. I found a custom car site that offers a cleaner, with a small repellant factor added in, and it's supposed to be safe for all glass and plastic type lenses. I'll try it out and see what happens. I also think getting the cam mounted a tiny bit higher and tipped slightly downward will help. I just can't believe how thick/wet the fog is out in a place that is soooooo dry! It gets so thick that you can't see 5 ft in front of you.. no exaggeration!

I have the same problem. I bet you could rub a little car wax on it to repelled the water.

I just need to make sure that the lens is in fact glass first, and not plastic before trying the car wax. Thanks for the tip.. would be cheaper than this special cleaner too! Oh well.. live & learn!

Yeah, might be bad if it screwed up the lense.

Raising the camera and tilting it will help some. I hunt out west of comstock and it can get pretty foggy out there as well. Lots of folks here from my area, havent even noticed it before, DCS you are even in the same town!

Fetch_up, we hunt near Dryden, an hour further west of you.

Ahh i know exactly where that is. We are actually off of FM 1024, which you pass on the right hand side as you are headed west on 90 leaving comstock. Bout 45 miles on that road and you are there! Best of luck to ya!

Some people build shields for the sides and over the top. I once built one using a plastic shoe box.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

The last round of pics I got showed bodies, barely, but you couldn't tell if it was whitetail or mule deer, doe or buck. Very frustrating! Was looking at one of the new Moultrie M60 cams that we just ordered, and I don't think think I will bother with trying to put something on the lens. It's only about the size of a dime!

Yeah it will take pics when the fog is that heavy. On ours it doesnt appear to be affecting the lense as much as it is just thick fog. Everything looks clear in pic but fog is so heavy you cant tell!
