Was in my house for about 5 minutes and came out to find this guy next to the car. I'd been noticing a lot of feathers lately and finally caught my "poacher".

I had to almost step on him to get in the car, but he never flinched. Pretty cool little encounter. Can't be more than 8 inches tall, but evidently loves him some white-wing, so we have something in common.

Another vote for the screech owl. 8" tall pretty much confirms it. Those little guys seem tamer than most owls......

Thanks guys, I agree that it's likely a Screech Owl.

We went to dinner at a neighbors house and went we got back two hours later all that was left was a few feathers.

Hard to tell from the pics, but most likely a screech owl judging by the smallness and the "horned" plumage.
