Does anyone have a link to a good trajectory chart?

I have a Browning A-Bolt 270 and shoot 130 Grain Federal Ammunition. I have my gun sighted in for 1" high at 100 yards. One of the places that I hunt is thick and my average shot is 50-70 yards and slightly up hill. Everything that I've shot at this stand has been hit high. Probably 3" above (or little more) than where my cross hairs were.

I wanted to look at the trajectory of my bullet on a chart to see if that is to be expected based on how my gun is sighted in. However, I haven't been able to find a chart that gives details on less than 100 yards.

I'm looking at iSnipe on my iPad, and with that rifle and bullet being sighted in an inch high at 100 puts you dead on at 175. I assumed a Hornady 130 gr SST, since you didn't specify the actual bullet. At 50 yards you are 0.2 inches high and at 75 yards you are 0.7 inches high. At 300 you are about 8 inches low and at 400 you'll be about 20 inches low. Switching bullets to a Speer 130 gr Spitzer BT, the trajectory isn't enough different to mention.

Your problem does not appear to be the close range trajectory, so the problem is most likely user error. :-)

iSnipe and iStrelok are great apps for the iPad or iPhone. I use them a lot. Definitely worth the small cost.

You should be .5 inch high at 50-75.
Probably more of the deer stand window rest than anything.

Its hard to get a accurate trajectory table without knowing your muzzle velocity and which bullet you are shooting.

Its really hard to get more than a wag without shooting your gun at that range.

Like others have said you shouldn't be off that much.

I like sighting my gun in for the distance I plan to shoot not and inch hi at x yards or the max point blank range etc. That serves its purpose but when your shooting close range its more trouble than good. If I was going to Colorado maybe I would do it different.

The OP is shooting a 270 with Federal factory 130's. He's pretty much around 3000 fps MV. That's all you need for a good guess at the trajectory. Drop the MV to 2900 and the difference isn't much. If he's 1 inch high at 100 and missed by 3 inches high at 75 yards, he just missed. Happens to the best of us.

You should be lower than your line of sight probably about 11/2-2". Your line of sight crosses at a specific zero point twice. Good rule of thumb, when in doubt always put it on hair. Also I dead zero at 100 yds

That is to be expected, when shooting uphill or downhill you'll always hit high.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

It needs to be greater than about 15 degrees up or down hill before you will see any effect on hitting high. At the close ranges we are talking about, I'd be surprised if it is enough of an angle to have an effect.

This is why I recommend a good 100 yard zero. It's simple to do, and you won't have to guess what's happening close and you're within 2" til about 225 yards.

If you're resting your rifle on a hard surface, that could account for the high hits. Your incline would have to be pretty severe to be responsible for 3-inch high hits at such short range.

Not sure of the velocity or your scope height. But this is my info
Hornady 130 sst at 2900ft/sec scope ht 2.0"
1 inch heigh at 100 yards

Mine is dead zero at 50 yards
100 1 inch high
200 -0.9 inch low
