I hunted this last weekend, and didnt see but a doe and her yearling. Seemed slow, not even the turkeys were really active. I hunt south of Carbon on hwy6 (right across the hwy from where the CARBON BUCK was killed)....figures it was over on that side...

Hunt south of Strawn and was still very slow. Not even seeing any medium sized deer that are close to the 13" rule. Cant figure whats going on. Hogs dont even seem to want to come out and play.

I am around Carbon and most of my activity was at first light and last light. It was cold, but the moon was bright at night. I saw a couple of doe, and one young buck Sunday morning. It sounded like the duck hunters on the peanut pastures where doing good though.

Yes it does seem a little slow here, they seem to still be moving at night, and with the full moon coming I dont see this changing.. I'm still hoping for some cooler(colder)weather.Getting alot of pics from my trail cam,but that aint putting any meat in the freezer.

I saw my first bucks of the season this past weekend.
I saw my usual doe with 2 yearlings come in every morning/evening. Saturday about 10 I had a spike come in and check things out.
Sunday right before I left my tree to go to church I had a little 6 pt come out (nowhere near 13 inches).
I thought it was a little promosing.
I am really excited about some cooler temperatures and getting on the other side of this full moon.

Sunday morning, near Romney, I saw one young buck chasing a doe. Also that same morning, I saw another young buck with his nose down and looked to be on a mission to find a doe. The big boys should be chasing this weekend, I would think.

When you start seeing alot of dead deer on the roads around here, you will know it is on. Not there yet.

I noticed the deer are just starting to rut. We were having alot of bucks hit the feeders recently and weren't seeing does. I noticed the movement is early in the morning and late in the evening. I had a 150 class 10 pointer come through on Sunday morning at 9:00 and he continued on and didn't come to corn. He was on the move in search of does. My place might be different since it is HF'ed and the ratio is 1:1. I think it should get hot and heavy over the next 2 weeks. I'm in the Eastland/Ranger area.
