Could be a burr in the chamber or right at the chamber breach. Are there suspicious or unusual marks on a fired case? You could try some other ammo too. Can't think of any other possibility.

How well did you clean the chamber before shooting?

Monarch steel cased ammo used to be coated in a lacquer non rusting agent that could get sticky and difficult to eject. IMO Something to look at even in promo foriegn made brass cased ammo.

And Yes, clean a brand new chamber & barrel squeaky clean.

Its an issue that has been discussed on here numerous times.

It gets messy(i like foam), just make sure you use a muzzle guide on the crown. Scrub hell out of it with bronze brush, then clean it well with bore snake.

Bore snake works well on the chamber

I used to know how to remove the lever easily, but thats been waaay long time ago. Kinda like a 1911 Colt diassembly...once you learn you never foregt but it may take a while if you haven't done it in 30 years.

With the lever removed you can slide the bolt out and proceed as per usual from the receiver end of the barrel....otherwise use a bore guide to protect the crown.

Like Bobo said, scrub the hell outta the chamber and bore to get the shipping mfg's grease out of the gun. When done be sure to re lubricate LIGHTLY with something like RemOil and wipe dry with a patch.

Gunsmith's will always tell you to first look at the ammunition. Then the firearm. Try another brand. The sporting goods industry sets tolerance ranges on all ammunition but there are differences, such as the web area at the base is thicker on some brands. If the monarch is thin- maybe it expanded a little more and is sticking. Try Reminton or Winchester. Either has worked for me producing one shot dead deer and bear. Who needs anything else?

Being a modern day lever action id definitely check for burrs I have been seeing a lot of late model pump action and lever guns with burrs in the action. The ammo could be a factor as well.
