I got to hunt Thanksgiving week at the Wendy Lou Classic Game Reserve, near Stephenville. I was able to harvest an Eland cow. The Eland cow is largest animal I have ever taken and, it is huge. We got to see some Eland bulls and they are enormous (have to be close to 2K lbs).

I had an amazing time on the hunt and the ranch is incredible. They have a lot of animals (saw a lot of gemsbok, Red Deer, Eland, etc.) and they are very healthy. The hunt was not easy and it was a great experience.

The guide, Mike Odell and his son in law, Kevin, were great. In my opinion, they went above and beyond with their generosity and kindness.

My brother in law got a big Red Deer spike. In my opinion, their management hunt prices are very good.

Tried Eland tenderloins wrapped in bacon this weekend and they were excellent. The meat is very good. The picture below is one back-strap cut into 1 inch steaks. I will be eating Eland for the next year (LOL).

Eland is by far my favorite game animal for the table.

Your freezer is over flowing now! Congrats.

Looks like one heck of a hunt. Congrats man! up

I drove by Wendy Lou on the way to visit family over Thanksgiving. Looks like a great ranch. Can't wait to go out and see/hunt it one day.

Freezer is almost full.

Took the neck meat, front shoulders and scraps to Bellville Meat Market for some Sweet Chipotle Sausage (awesome), summer sausage with jalapeno, etc.

When I get that back....it will be overflowing. A couple of co-workers will get lucky.

I can't say enough good things about the place and Mike, highly recommended.

Nice very interested in a red hind hunt. Did y'all see many? How much did the red stag spike cost if I may ask?

The red hind is $350 and spikes are $450.
And
They have a lot of Red Deer. My brother in law told me he saw several in the herd he hunted. Call mike Odell (254-764-4334) and he can give you more details on animals available.

I have not had red deer yet but, hear it is good also.

Eland bull is $4-5K. But, I shot a cow and it was considerably cheaper.

Wife just made a bit of stew and it was very good.

We appreciate you hunting with us, and thank you for your kind words Ruff - you will be eating good for a while! (and your co-workers are in for a treat too)

After being very vigilant with our game management, exercising patience and growing our herds we're now in a great position with the size and quality of our animals. To top it off, Mike and Kevin are salt of the earth, standup guys who have been part of our game operation since pretty much the beginning, so the Wendy Lou family is mightily blessed!

We're glad you enjoyed your time on WLR and look forward to welcoming you back again Ruff.
