Went this past weekend and saw no sign of the rut. Bucks were coming to feeders, but were only interested in running the does off so they could eat all the corn themselves. Seems to be that a lot of the pecking order has been decided, as I saw some bucks that were definitely avoiding confrontation with other bucks. It was easy to tell who the dominant buck was in that particular area at that particular time. Saw no following or chasing at all. Deer activity was good Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, but the wind Sunday night made the deer nervous and jumpy and I saw a lot more does than bucks. Anyone seen any activity that signals that the rut is imminent?

I just started a post on this today. See "Timing of the rut" and share your thoughts. If what the biologist had to say is true (and I could be swayed either way at this point) then the rut will officially start tomorrow.

Saw some limited rutting activity Saturday morning with one or two bucks chasing does and other bucks staying at the corn trying to get full. Sunday morning, I saw no bucks chasing does, the ones I saw were only interested in eating. Seems to be they are slowly working their way into it.

I really hope we don't see the trickle rut we had last season. It was really a disappointment on my ranch. I was glad to see a few fawns this summer since they never seemed to "get down to business" in Nov/Dec.

I hunt near Rocksprings, and this past weekend the bucks were not interested in the does whatsoever. I had 3 bucks come out with 7 does, and like you previously stated, they just wanted a quick meal and water. Give it a couple more weeks.

I am on a lease west of Junction and had two 8 pointers chasing does on Sunday morning. All the does seemed to be really nervous The does would run into the feeders and then run out. I had 1 eight pointer keep chasing a doe from one feeder to the next until finally she gave up and left. The rut should be on pretty soon.
