I have been hunting 3-4 days a week staying in the blind the entire day... Since opening day I have seen a total of 7 deer and all of them spikes or doe. I am well hidden, scent is covered, feeders are full and I'm the only person hunting my lease of almost 400 acres...

Is anyone else having this problem around here? The deer are here (lotta night pictures on the camera). I'm not a quitter and have patience galore but it is frustrating none the less.

Also, we had a wildfire about 5 yrs ago and the evening hunts have been either very few deer seen, or shut outs since then.

I live just south of town and the better bucks just started moving in the daylight saturday. Up till then we haven't seen a good buck in the daylight. I think this front coming in this week will help.

This past week brought a huge jump in the amount of bucks coming to the feeders during the daylight for us. I assume the cold got them coming in to eat. I am hoping this coming weekend will be good. We shall see!

I have found that the deer in this area are about as shy as anywhere I have hunted. Billybob has pointed this out multiple times, and he's exactly right. The deer are there. The cameras prove it. They're just really not too keen on moving during the daylight hours for whatever reason. However, usually around Thanksgiving we see a turnaround in movement. It seems everything is a week or two late this year. So, I look for things to change either this week or the next. Good luck hunting. Remember that persistence pays off. The last two years I have taken my buck on Dec. 17th 2012 and Dec. 22nd 2011.

We are hunting north of Albany. We have seen lots of little young bucks and very few does the last 2 years. We have lots of deer activity at night. I was able to drop a good buck (11 point) at first light this past Saturday morning. He was sneaking thru and had no interest in the feeders. He stopped just long enought for me to shoot. The rut is on big time. I watched a young 8 point chase a doe around my stand for 45 minutes. He came across my downed buck and backed up a few feet and then continued his pursuit. I think a doe bleet call would be handy right now and or rattling.

Dang!!! I always under the assumption that the deer around Shackelford where big bodied. I’m thinking not so much now LOL
