I never tried to do anything and if you can't afford a hunt or deer or exotic animal that's not my problem so grow up or get a job my friend.. "My friend" for one I have a great career and probably more successful than can know. So let's not get on a money debate. I have killed exotics on "high fence" but whitetails no. But once again I am not against it but that's not my cup of tea. That is a great deer and I am not taking anything away from you for killing that deer. It is just a fact if you choose to cut a check you can kill a 200" deer. (Tomorrow) my god everyone has turned this into a OMG I can't believe he said that when all I said is if you have the money you can kill big deer. I choose to take my money to the Midwest where if I killed one it was free ranging and legit. Everyone is aware of what you said. Thing is, it wasn't necessary, and it was tacky. I understand what you're saying, and there is a time and place to discuss it. Most of us feel that threads like these are neither. Holy hell lets keep it going

Ok first off. Very nice deer! I am not trolling by any means. I simply have a question. "You Said you were Game".. Let me ask you this, When you paid for this hunt, Did you go to the ranch and pick a stand, Or were you recommended a stand to go to because a guide knew that deer was frequently in that area?

Nope I went to an area that he frequents with game cam pics as most hunters do and did not see him for 5 hunts as most hunters do he came out chasing doe,s and never came to the feeders I don't understand what the deal is 5000 acres high fenced with no cross fences to me made no difference so everyone needs to get over it when I die my grandson can have the biggest greatest buck of my lifetime and then it does not matter anymore except he can tell everyone that's my grandpa,s buck and I want one like it. Again thanks all for the congrats if I knew now what I seen everyone react I would have never let anyone see him and that's bad for all. Thanks guys

man that is a whitetail that a lot of people in this world could never dream to kill great buck my buddy just killed a 150 inch 15 point yesterday on a gg and and he is so stoked he can't talk right.
for the guy who is asking about deer in that area I had a low fence ranch in Sydney Texas just outside of Comanche where we paid the landowner $6000 for the hunting right and he shot to monster bucks out from under it one was a 172" typical 10 point with a 25.5 inch inside spread the other was a mainframe 10 with a split g2 kicker that went 168 I believe both were in the newspaper. obviously we took our money somewhere else since I was after both of those dear

I don't think they realize that 5000 acres is more like putting a deer in the middle of Fort Worth and trying to hunt it its not that easy

Great buck Larry. I thought someone else would ask and they didn't so what is that around the right rear ankle of your deer? Hope you will post him up when you get the mount back. Thanks for sharing such a beast.

Listen, obviously Larry has done some things right in his life that he was able to harvest such an animal. The truth is I can hunt all I want in the Hill Country and I'll never see a deer like this one. Sure I'll harvest what I consider to be trophies, shoot maybe one day I'll shoot a 130" buck. But lets be real, bucks like this one aren't running free around Texas. I would consider it a tribute to my success in life if one day I was able to pay for a hunt on a 5000 acre high fence and shoot a buck like this. Don't dog the guy for shooting the animal of his lifetime. Negative comments aren't good for THF and may deter people of posting here in the future.
Larry congrats! and thank you sharing this awesome animal with us.

That's the MLD tag we did not want it on his horns for pictures. They are using him for their website. Thanks he is one of the biggest on the ranch sorry guys again I can't believe all this ....it wont happen again I have a lot of trophy elk and exotics I have killed free range high fenced and or both all over the United States and never had my own State of Texas act like this it's embarrassing to say the least my son posted on fishing forum and it was nothing but congrats this is no wonder Non hunters jump aboard and cause us problems. Again thanks for all and the rest you know what you can do with your comments....

Most people try to "hide around the fact" because of the comments that certain donkeys on this forum make simply because it was behind a HF. That's what they say, anyway. But in this case the man did give the ranch name when asked-so I suppose you could look it up. P.S. His specific emphasis on the location taken does at least lead to the HF/LF inquiry, because as pointed out location matters for LF only. (IMO location emphasis implies LF) Kind of what I was thinking....

Look i wont hate on ya anymore. Its obvious people like you and people like me are different. I would just rather know that my grandpa actually worked hard in the field and scouted for his trophy, Rather than being placed on it regardless the amount of money and hunts it took. This thread is a good example of why we need a separate forum for low fence deer.

In my opinion.....a HF 5000acre ranch is a whole different ball game than shooting a deer like this on 300acres! there is zero guarantee that you will see anything much less a deer like this on 5000acres! further more, 5000acres that is high fenced is just a well managed property, not a little pen with deer that have no where to go.
Sweet deer man! congrats!! Good point. I'm personally a free range hunter but truly believe hunting a large high fence ranch is really no different than hunting free range deer.

5000 acres with no cross fences is almost unheard of here in the states. hard to find anything on that. congrats on the buck.
i hunted a 36000 ranch with no cross fences in Argentina but that was there. 18k acres of sorgum and 18k acres of corn. unreal how big that is.

I don't have time to pay for leases that everyone that owns the land hunts and kills everything my schedule does not allow I spend a week after trophy whitetails in different parts of Texas or elk hunting in new Mexico and the rest of the year hunt exotics. Low fence or high fence as long as I'm hunting when I can taking my grandson and son on hog and deer next weekend I guess if they kill a trophy it will be different......thanks

Congrats on your deer Larry! With 5,000 acres to roam, he could have easily avoided hunters for the rest of his life. You were there when he made a mistake and were able to put a good shot on a true trophy. That alone is a great accomplishment as buck fever is real. Congrats again!
