Well today was my sons first harvest at quit abit younger(6 1/2yo).i started him last year with carrying a BB gun last year and then this past summer moved to start target practice with a 22Hornet and then let him shoot a 22-250 this weekend with the following results:

Great first buck, it's about 10x bigger than mine was. But I'm curious about its back leg, was it attacked by a Yote or something?

Looks like alittle left on the ole texas heart shot. Congrats to the boy... I turned 31 yesterday and it's a bigger buck than I have ever harvested.

Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.

Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

That's a moment that you will never forget sir.
Awesome job to the young man.
Some people hunt their whole life and never shoot that caliber of animal.

I was 30 when I took my first one. I'm almost 33 now. Not a second goes by without thinking of hunting, shooting, etc ever since. I've got a stinkin' 75mph, 21' bass boat that sat all year because of it. I have to watch when I say I wish I would have hunted my whole life when I'm around my Dad. He feels guilty he never took me. Now I take him! I win!

The back leg was a result in a misplaced 2nd shot. My son made what turned out to be a good lung shot, the buck ran abit and stopped, when he stopped he made a 2nd shot which was "a little far back"

Know what you mean about the boat-I sold my Triton and bought a FX20 2 weeks before opening of bow season, think I have had it on the water twice and have only missed 1 weekend of hunting since the opening of Bow season. Thae way I look at it is we only have 3 months to hunt deer, so I will make the most of my time with it and fish the other 9 months of the year.

Very nice. Congrats!

That buck looks a lot like my son's first buck when he was 12. I had it mounted and had the taxidermist put a tag on it with the date and my son's age. Neither of us will ever forget the afternoon of 12/7/2003.
