Got to be a good guy and have a lot of patience in dealing with the ATF.
Not sure on the specifics but I'm sure with as much brain power as we have here on THF that you'll be well educated shortly. Good luck.

All information can be found on the BATFE wesite... "HOW TO BECOME AN FFL"
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

ATF is a good group of people, and easy to work with. Ask questions if you have them, find an IO (industry operations) person for your area and ask them every question known to man.
Don't let the naysayers fool you, 99.9 percent of ATF people are stand up good people like everyone else.

You have to have a business fill out some paperwork and you'll hear in 3 months whether you are approved. You have to be in it to make a profit not for buying guns for yourself and friends. They have the right to inspect you and check records and such and they will. Overall an easy process... Now maintaining it after the inspection, I have heard may not be too easy!

I am interested in this to, actually was thinking of making a post. For those that have theirs already, I have heard you have to have a store front, I have a location picked out, but do I have to have the location before the license is issued? Hate to get the building and then be denied, and be stuck with a building.

And they absolutely will! My buddy's FIL gets checked all the time it seems! He's top notch so he has nothing to worry about.
Man if I knew what Oxner knows I could throw away what I know

No you don't need a store front. Plenty of ffl being run out of homes. You need abusiness license and a tax certificate fron state. I have an LLC.... there really is not much money into guns, especially for the hassles...

Local zoning will be your biggest challenge! Yes, you can operate out of your home...IF your local zoning laws allow it!
Example...if you live in the City of Dallas you are SOL!

Yes, you will also need to see your Chief Law Enforcement Officer to sign paperwork!

Its not too bad, the worst part is it takes forever and if you are going to build guns or ammo you have to pay ITAR that is the part that stinks really bad

Yes, you will also need to see your Chief Law Enforcement Officer to sign paperwork! Sorry, this is NOT a requirement! A copy of the application is to be SENT by the applicant to the CLEO but their signature is NOT required.
