Hey guys,
I have warn the same pair of cabelas brand hunting boots for 6 or 7 years now and would like to make a change. They are decently comfortable but not overly warm. I want a good warm pair that is not overly expensive (maybe 200 or less). I have heard lots of good reviews of Muck boots but they have various models and don't know which is best.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Are you looking for a rubber type boot or a leather type boot?

I do not have a preference. I strictly deer hunt if that will vary any recommendations. I have never owned a pair of rubber hunting boots so I do not know what to expect from them.

I have a pair of knee high insulated Camo boots waterproof, ect that are comfortable and I think they were about $160 plus they are snake proof. My daily walking and work boots are Danner Camo military style. I weld and work and hunt in them over 2 yrs and the sole show no wear. They are cloth and are showing very small amt of threadbare in spots. I think they were $211

I really like Bean Boots from LL Bean. You can get varying levels of insulation and height. But they are 100% waterproof, extremely comfortable, and my insulated ones are the warmest boots I've ever owned.
Not your "traditional" hunting boots for those of us in Texas, but I hate cold feet, I hate wet feet, and I hate blisters. I get none of that with these.

Danner Boots the best in my opinion. For hunting in Texas ,please make sure the boots you go with are snakeproof.

Over the years, I've gone thru several boots, but the best ones that I've had that hold up and are extremely comfortable are IRISH SETTER.

I'm UNDER ARMOUR kind of guy and they are super comfortable. Waterproof, snake proof and has the body glove material from the ankles up to the knees. The fit is perfect!!!

I have tried many boots (Vasque, Cabelas, Danner, Merrels, Asolo, etc) and without question the most comfortable boot made is Zamberlans. It's not specifically a hunting boot but a very high quality hiking, backpacking boot. I believe they just broke into the hunting market w/ the optifade open country pattern from Sitka Gear. They aren't insulated but w/ proper wool socks you don't really need insulation unless you are hunting in 30 below temps. I find myself rationalizing to wear these whenever I can. I also own a pair of Cabelas - Mendls w/ 200g thinsulate. They are great boots but the comfort doesn't compare to the Zamberlans. I can & have hiked miles and miles in my Zamberlans and my feet have never regretted it. For extreme temps, Sorels are where it's at. Nothing compares to them. Just my .02.

For me it seems odd to hear talk about hunting boots of leather. I grew up in Louisiana, and hunting boots were tall and made by Lacrosse. Nowdays, in Texas, I just wear a good slip on leather boot, but make sure I buy the waterproof versions. As for the make, I just shop for best fit and comfort, and make sure it's a name boot.

Got my first pair of insulated hunting boots this year. Had previously wore my combat boots from the Air Force and they were good, solid, tough, good wear and comfortable but just not enough with sub-40 degree days. I picked up some Irish setter 400 gram and have worn them several times. Good fit right from the box, good support, and warm down to teens. Happy with them. Can't say anything to durability since this is my first year wearing, but so far happy with the purchase and got them over 50% off at cabelas on sale.

I bought a pair of Bean boots today and looking forward to seeing how practical they are. My hunting blinds are dry, carpeted and I usually take my shoes off and put them next to the heater...but on sub-freezing days, walking to and from is what gets me. I'll layer along with liners and see how they do.

I have worn Irish Setter boots by Redwing for many years. Both insulated and non insulated. Most comfortable boots on the market and very well made.

For the hunting I do I think I might have found what is practical. I bought a used pair of LLBean "low top" Bean boots and with two pairs of socks and Army issue liners, I can't complain. I went outside this morning to scrape the porch, de-ice the cars, check on mom next door and even played for a bit with Hannah and my deer were sweating. I asked my wife who was wearing thinsulated WalMart boots and three pairs of socks how she was doing and she said her deer were freezing. I'm in the deer blind now and feel fine. I realize my feet are not submerged in snow but it's cool outside.....cool enough that my deer would know it.

Bobo,I bought a pair of these about 6 years ago from Cabelas bargain cave and they were extremely comfortable and light and pretty warm as well. Unfortunately they have fallen apart the past year or so, therefore they have been replaced.

I spend a lot of hours in my boots guiding clients and hunting when not with clients. Lacrosse Aeroheads have my vote hands down. They are the most comfortable boot I have put my feet in period. My tennis shoes aren't even that comfortable. They're lightweight for a rubber boot and very warm. I've hunted in the high teens with just one pair of wool socks on and not had any problems with my feet getting cold in the 7mm insulated boots paid $149 online through amazon. If you go leather route Danner is a very good choice.

I have a pair of Irish Setters i got on clearance from Bass Pro for under 100 bucks. They are 200 gram insulation- not overly hot in mild weather, but comfortable in the cold. Well mad and comfy boots. I bought them cause i got tired of freezing in my tony lamas

I went and tried on a bunch. Rocky's were the most comfortable to me. I'd recommend just trying on a bunch.

I've been lookin' at Rocky Lynx snake boots. I like that they have laces AND zippers 'cause my calves are like hams and I need all the room I can get.
