As some of you may know I closed on my new property on Tuesday at noon. I saw this deer and passed on him Wednesday morning. I didn't want to shoot the very first buck I saw on my new place. I want to just shoot mature bucks. Is this one mature? It was hard to tell when looking at him with binocs. Looking at the pics I think I maybe should have taken him.

Let me try and figure out how to post images

Save the image to photobucket. Then copy and paste the IMG link in the post up

He's mature enough. It's hard to say for sure that this is his peak year. Shooting or passing has a lot to do with what else is on the place, and what you have shot in the past. Don't pass on a deer till next season unless you can live with never getting him. They die of other reasons, get poached, find greener pastures etc. Plenty of good deer have been watched for four years and never showed back up.

If you're only concerned if he is mature, then you've got the green light.

I set up two regular feeders and the small you can see in the picture. I thought I would move the small one around with a camera and see what is out there.

I bought a road feeder also and spread some corn on the road where ever I choose to sit for the hunt.

About 3 to 3.5 I'd say, Of course thats a go, but if not then you have something amazing to look forward to next year.

Definitely mature, 4.5+ years old easily.

Great buck, good luck tagging him!
