Hello All, I was just wondering if any of ya'll are using leveractions this hunting season...If so what are you using and have you dropped any deer with them...? I started the season using my dad's .243 since I haven't used in awhile, now that I got a nice little buck for meat down, I am now thinking of using the .243 for maybe a couple more hunts then switch over to my newly acquired 1894 44mag cowboy limited. I am hoping to drop a few deer with it and see how it does....Last year and the year before that I exclusively used leveractions for hunting, two to be exact, one was my 1894 in 44mag carbine and the other being my 1895 45-70 guide gun....Thanks for reading, please feel free to share and I will keep ya'll updated on my success with the 44mag cowboy. Again thanks for reading and I look forward to all your posts.

My FIL is a strict lever action guy. He is using a 338MX and 308MX mainly but also uses several OLD Marlin 30/30s.

I hunt in oak thickets in Brown County and I use a 1873 Winchester in 44-40 open sights (reproduction model). I use it the first few days of the season and then move to my big gun. It is a romantic dream of mine to kill one with this rifle, it is just like my Great Grand Fathers (which I have)that was purchased in 1883. Those early morning, late afternoon shots are tough with open buckhorn sights. Maybe someday........

I just installed a Skinner peep sight on my M92 in 44mag. Headed to the range in tomorrow morning to sight it in, then out to the woods. So, for the rest of the year, we will be using a M92 in 44mag for me, and my 9yr old will be using my new M92 in 357mag. That one will get a Skinner sight and aluminum follower after Christmas is complete.

Love my BLR 30-06. If I could afford it, I'd have one in a 253 and 7MM mag.

Henry 30-30 with skinner sights. Love my lever and the 30-30 is as American as apple pie.

Also, Henry's customer service is unbeatable. Had a problem with my mag tube and they sent me one within 3 days. Henry is a great company and they make quality lever guns.

My Marlin 1895G in 45-70 is my go to hunting rifle unless I expect long distance shots or small game.

Thanks for the comments ya'll, I cannot wait till I get a chance to take a deer with either of my 1894 marlins, both are in 44mag...The newest acquisition is a cowboy model that I have yet to take a deer with, and the other being a carbine that I took one deer, a spike buck with it years ago. I would like to add a few more hunt with each one this season...

Love the levers, my son is using a 30-30. I'll be using these at different times; 32-20, .357 and 38-55. Every one of them are accurate and an absolute joy to shoot.

Savage model 99 in 250-3000. It's killed lots of deer and pigs in its 60+ years, and has never had a malfunction.

I'm using my great-grandpas's 1939 Savage 99 in .300 Savage. Very accurate rifle but the recoil will bite you if you don't hold it tight to your shoulder just right.

I have been taking my grandfathers Winchester 3030. Nothing on the ground yet, they just have not met the specs. I look forward to seeing my son take his first with it.

jjohn, That's too cool and Thank you for the reply. I was lucky last year in that I shot a axis doe myself on Christmas morning using my 45-70. It was a blessing in that it was the first time I had hunted my grandparents place in over three years, what's also a blessing is that I have no idea where that axis doe came from as there are no free axis nowhere near the area.

The R's and RS are my favorite (Pre WWII) followed by the H (carbine)

This year will be Winchester M71 (circa 1948), and two Savage 99H, (30-30), 1936 and 1933.
