Okay, I hunt Fannin county, i know the deer desinty is very low, but i have been successful. only with does. I have only ever gotten 1 picture of 2 bucks on our propety. the land isnt presured, and is very secluded. Over the years we have worked on managment and leaving bedding areas alone, supplying with spring and summer food, and we watch with alot of cameras.

in the past 2 years we have seen more Does than ever and im thrilled, but the bucks just never come around. they have to be there to make more does, but where? idk, i am heading out tomorrow to take my doe for the year and ill be finished as usual.

Anyone have any ideas to help maybe this year, or prepare for next year?

How long do you stay in the stand ?

exactly, i run cams all year on trails, feeders, and plots with no bucks moving. NOT EVEN SPIKES. im not just mad that theres not a trophy out there, there is nothing but the Does keep populating.

No other signs found such as scrapes or rubs?

no rubs, never noticed a good ground scrape... the property is 175 acers, about 50 is clean cow pasture, the rest is untouched for hunting minus, 15 acres of food plots.

Any thick woods? If so find a trail and put cam on trail in the woods

Very few hardwoods, most of them are around ponds that are now dry

Well there are bucks somewhere in the area, at a loss on this one.

Ive known bucks in fannin to range 5 miles. Wait long enough and one will show up.

You said your ponds are dry? A good water source will keep them closer to you.

What is your fawn crop numbers like? Do you run your TC on trails or water anytime?

As stx is saying. Water could be a key in finding bucks, if you have no water holes on your place.

We have some land east of collinsville sound the exact same always seen does but very few bucks my brother did kill one a few years ago that went 165 but bucks are few and far between just keep in mind they are there you just might have to hunt a little harder then usual. What quality are the bucks that you have seen ???
