Need good suggestions for a good easy to use trail cam that's under $200 from my fellow THFers. I will trust a hunter that has used a certain camera over a sales guy at academy that knows squat, and reviews can be 50/50 at times.

Stealth cam or primos.. you can get a 8mp stealth cam with like 34IR for 120 $ .. works fine for me.
Hunting in magnolia would be better in a gated community.

I love our Bushnell Trophy Cam HD. It has 8MP and runs on AA batteries that lasted 5 months with thousands of pics. $165 on eBay

+1 on the Bushnell Trophy Cam HD. I have been running Bushnells for three years now and I am up to 6 cameras running nearly all year long. Take tons of quality pictures. Since July I have only changed the batteries in them 1 time. Look on Amazon for decent pricing. Think my last 2 were less than 170 apiece.
Having said that, shot placement is key and there is only one level of dead. Us east Texans can't afford turquoise and elk ivories for jewelry. So we use hog tushes and coon peckers.

Get one that takes AA batteries instead of D batteries. They seem to last just as long and the batteries cost way less to replace.

We have been very pleased with the Moultrie M80 series for reliable, inexpensive cameras. We are running 6 at the ranch now. Several have been out in the elements for 2+ years non-stop and are still chugging along. Cleay day pics, pretty good night pics, and long battery life off of 8 AAs.
FYI, Academy has the M80xd on sale for $99 right now.

I do like the AA battery and long life part. Is that running the camera 24/7 on the bushnell.
Like price tag on primos cam. My wildlife innovations cam has went to crap on me after 7 years.

AA are the way to go. Our Bushnell Trophy Cam HD has been up since July continuously and has been through 105 to 20 degree temps and just replaced the batteries last weekend.

FYI, Academy has the M80xd on sale for $99 right now. Similar report for me, been running the same cam and love them so far. Have been in the field for 2 years and counting as of January and no issues and great pictures. Have some stealth cams that are going on 5 years of continuous run time in the field and they are starting to give us problems and will be replaced before too long.

I have 8 Cameras 2 Bushnell Trophy HDS ($250 Each) 2 Wildgame Innovations Micro Red 8s(110 Each) 2 Moultrie A5s (70 each) 1 Browning Spec Ops (150) 1 Moultrie M990I Blackout ( 150) The Moultrie M990i is my favorite one by far. Small in size, Very easy to operate, you can view the pictures on the camera without even pulling the card. Takes 10 MP pictures, awesome video with sound, has a very fast trigger speed, and batteries are seeming to last a while. The RANGE Is amazing! I got it at ACADEMY for $150, and absolutely love it. In fact, I am considering selling all of my other cameras, and buying just strictly these cameras.

Granted, I am comparing to some cams that are 4+ years old but the difference is impressive. The cameras I'm replacing cost four times as much when I bought them.

I have used many listed above but my favorite for the money is Spypoint. It also uses AA's. They have a reasonable model that switches back and forth from IR to Flash.

Having a viewing screen is a plus even if only 2".
Bad thing about asking for hunting stuff at Christmas is the long wait before I can use it. I usually ask for dove hunting stuff for my b- day in July. A couple mojo dove deeks and 2 cases of shells, it's only a month wait to start popping the birds

My Primos Truth Cam 46 Has been up for 2 years with all kinds on weather conditions & still going strong. Replaced the batteries only once so far. Checked it this past weekend & they are at 60%. I just bought a Primos 35 just because it came on sale at Academy for $69.99.

Bushnell trophy cam hd. Cabelas has them on sale until the 4th of December I believe. 79.99. Normally 169.99. Hard to beat. Batteries last forever and picture quality is awesome as is trigger speed.

Just doing it for fun now.
