Got checked by a couple of gw this morning on the water and it was a very positive experience they were both younger people one male and one female very nice young people they are going to be some excellent game wardens they know how to approach someone as crappy as the weather was they both had a smile on there face when they pulled up checked our licenses and guns had a brief conversation with us on how the hunt was going and were on there way some of the older wardens I've been checked by in the past could learn a thing or two from them

Thank you for posting that. Seems like there has been a kick on this forum to gripe about everything, especially about being checked by a GW. Im glad you didnt take a pic of their boat because somebody would have said there was a cheaper boat they could be using.

Thank you again for taking the time to post it.

Glad you had a good experience.

So far the ones I have met and know are very nice folks. Even helped em out a time or two, and I always call their personal cell phone if I ever have any questions about anything.

Last but not least.....and I'm not a jerk by all means, but please use a period when you type. Or at least a comma. grin

Game wardens are people....some good and some bad. I have no problem with them as I am always legal. I do asked that they either check me on the way in or way out.....not while I am hunting. No reason to ruin even a second of my hunt unless they see something wrong. If they do this, they will make a lot more friends with the public.

A game warden checking me while hunting is like a police officer stopping me just to make sure I am a legal citizen, have my license with me, make sure my tires are inflated properly, oil is full, insurance is from Geico, etc....

It just doesn't make sense! Before or after, unless you have reasonable doubt of me doing wrong.

I don't know about you but I've been hunting and fishing in this state for over forty years and can still count how many times I've been checked by the warden I for one am glad to see them and for those of you that don't like my lack of periods don't read my post or keep your comment to your self

It has come to my attention that younger folks do not use punctuation anymore. This is due to speed texting. I'm just happy when folks take time to spell words fully. The art of grammar is lost. Many of us on here are archaic. Letter writing is obsolete. We live in the digital age. Imagine how our grandparents felt about jet aircraft, and rocket ships going to the moon. Back on task, I have been checked by GW's before. Only once was I offended. It was because they watched us for half an hour building up numbers before hoping to bust us for hunting dove out of season. The look on their face was priceless when they checked and saw a pile of collared dove.

Punctuation saves lives.

I can't believe that the grammar police have ruined another good post. This was a positive experience with a GW, which was being shared. All you dumb*s5 focus on is whether or not someone can put in periods. How do you know that the post wasn’t being done from a phone? I don’t use any punctuation when sending messages from my phone because it takes too long.

If you want to be an English teacher, then go apply at a school. I hear there are plenty of openings.

This is the only reason I commented on it. This was the post that ruined the thread.

Just please mix in a period here or there, it makes it much less of a beating to try and comprehend. And whoever says it takes too long on a phone must be in a real hurry to get somewhere...

All you do is type the space bar twice on the iphone and it inserts your period for you.

Help Uncle Jack off his horse.

Yep, real important...lack of punctuation and capitalization could give a whole different meaning this this phrase.

glad you had a good experience as some are good and some are bad but for the most part mine have all been good i have not been checked for awhile but hope the experience goes as well as your and like most have said it is faster to not use any punctuation or grammar but it does make it less of a pain to bust out the decoder ring and try and figure what is going on in the op

Again, this is me being a Richard and adding fuel to the fire. LOL

I agree 100%.....it really shouldn't be allowed unless they have suspicion there is something illegal going on. Some of us take off from work drive a couple hours just to hunt one day....the fact that a GW can come and take half an hour away from your hunt just sucks. Had this happen to me two years ago. Took a day off work drove 2 hours to my lease. We realized we weren't on the X 5 minutes before shooting light. We had just moved our set up from where we were to the X and started shooting finishing birds. Green Jeans shows up 10 minutes after LST (PRIME TIME) and takes 45 minutes to check us. We had group after group landing in the hole and couldn't do anything about it. By the time he was done the birds were pretty much done. BTW when ole green jeans was walking up to us we had a group working so I wasn't paying attention to my dog (her first year to hunt) I look down and she was headed to greet the GW....next thing I know he's pulling his gun out! I called my dog and she came right back but it really ticked me off! I guess they can't be too careful but still didn't sit well with me.

They're not looking for one thing right....they're looking for one thing wrong.

The difference is hunting state resources is a privilege, not a right. All game belong to the state. So, by buying a license you are being given a licensed privilege. So, a GW stopping you is not the same as being stopped for criminal reasons.

So, hunting is a privilege and not a right?! Can't wait to see this discussion.

On a side note, every time I have been checked in the blind or field, they didn't stop me from hunting. They even ducked down this last weekend with us when we had birds start working. Guess it all depends on the GW.
