I bought this from a THFer months and months ago. It really doesn't fit in my collection so I'm thinking about setting it free.

It appears to be Stainless Steel but its not stamped like some I've seen.

MODEL 97 Winchester 12 GA.
2-3/4 CHAM.
CYL.Bottom of receiver @ magazine: E 3463xx
Overall length: 38"
Barrel length: 18.5"

This gun has been around the block. Plenty of scratches and the wood looks like its 80 years old but it doesn't have any cracks.

Thanks yall.

Looks like a combat or police model. I have one also. Pretty certain that it is not stainless.

Maybe its nickel. The finish looks similar to this one.

I found a 97 online over the weekend that had "stainless steel" stamped on the barrel.

Looks more like nickel plating to me.

Thanks but I've seen both those skeeter22.

Anyone else have an idea?

I have one in about the same condition as yours. Over the years I've watched the value and seen some for sale. I think it's about a $400 gun.
