I have a tractor but tired of hauling 5hrs to use it for 10 minutes. The stand I need to erect is a hexagon I built from some plans I got from the forum, and the tower is scaffolding with a deck built on top. What would be the best way to get it on top of the scaffold (about 8ft) using a polaris ranger with a 4500lb winch or truck and a couple of guys?

Can you lay platform down and bolt stand to it,then lift up with winch by blocking you Ranger with tree to keep from sliding? Or put ur cable over a big tree limb and winch stand up. Doubtful you have a big limb in right spot.. Most likely your tractor is best bet.

Tractor is the best bet but I'm sick of hauling it. There are no trees around the area. My plan as of now is to bolt the box to the platform then lay it on the side of trailer and have two guys pushing the box up while pulling it with the ranger or truck. Just fishing if anyone has a better idea.

Please don't get someone hurt. Think about your 20/20 hindsight. You have the proper tools so use them. I actually have the same problem. Too much stuff to haul to lease in one trip. I'll need to get a buddy to haul my small trailer full of stuff while I haul the big trailer with my tractor, FEL, & bush hog. It will be a big day or two, but I'll have lanes mowed, feeder up and box blind placed. That'll clear the way for placing my junker RV out there next trip and actually getting to hunt.

It takes time.

Get your blind anchored to the scaffolding first on the ground. Pulling it up can be done with a truck. Just anchor the back legs that will have the pressure when pulling it up. I use a 2x4 that runs the length of the back legs secured by a couple of t posts so they don't slip. If it is a tall blind over 8 feet I will have a 4 wheeler with winch on the other side that is hooked on as well. As the truck pulls up the blind, the 4 wheeler lets out a bit of slack so when the blind begins to tip to one side the winch then can slowly let it down. This will need a few guys with 4 wheelers and winches if a tall blind, hooked up on either corner. But you can raise it in about 3 minutes. We use radios to let the truck driver and ATV operators know when to move forward or let out on the winch. Set one this weekend, no worries.

Use a fulcrum to help lift the blind. It can be a post or a ladder. It reduces the pressure on the base and the blind when lifting -

Combine what Halfadozen and jdickey shared. We have raised many stands in this manner. Be careful and stay away from the fall zone.

We build our blinds in parts and then assemble them on the tower one wall at a time. with bolts through the corners. Has worked well so far.

if you have to do it yourself which unfortunately I do and have have. I dig two holes for the two bottom legs to drop into to act as a catch. i then drop a rope or chain over the blind/platform and tie onto it from backside of platform. this causes the bling to raise as opposed to sliding if you attach to front of plaform if that makes sense (in other words dont latch onto closest point to you), I then slowly start backing up truck till bootom legs drop in hthe pressure on the chain or rope going over the walls and roof would be too much strain. I then keep backing up slowly till it starts to raise. you dont want to pull it up to fast because momentum can cause it to keep going and fall. Be advised that i only raise platforms this way. all my walls and and roof are modular. if you have a completed blind then Dont ask me about taking them down. havent crossed that bridge yet smile Also if you are not in a position to use a truck then some use comealongs attched to trees. hopefully you will have help and wont need my advice.

I think I can manage from putting all the information together that everyone has put on this thread...........Two polaris rangers with each a 4500lb winch and two corn fed boys should get it....The hardest part will be attaching the blind to the tower....and transporting it to the location.

One thing I've done in the past to save on fuel and time is rent a tractor from a local rental facility. They'll usually ever deliver and will sometimes wait while you set it up if you're ready then. Even though you have a tractor you'll more than likely be paying for two trucks and trailers to get to the lease. a $100 or $150 a day rental to have a tractor delivered and picked up might be worth it, especially if you are more than three hours from the house. Just a thought.

Go 1 frame higher and use a chain hoist.

Isn't the best way to save face to keep the lower part shut?

If anyone needs to know how to quickly get a blind on the ground let me know. I've got that figured out.

I bought the 4x4 brackets. While box was on the trailer we used landscape timbers to prop it up high enough to connect 4x4s. Once ready we used a winch on a razor. But go slow and use a safety rope so it doesn't just flip onto the razor. Worked like a champ!

Put a girl blind next to a boy blind. Should do the trick if the blind isn't too old.
