How are you guys building the legs of your stands? I am building a blind here pretty quick and am just trying to figure out how to build the elevated stand to put the box blind on. Thanks for the help.

I've seen pretty much every thing you can use for legs. We have used both angle iron and 2x4's when in a pinch

How tall for the 2x4? I'm needing 10-15 foot tall platform.

We use old telephone poles. Put the auger on the tractor drill 4 holes put some cross pieces up and use the front forks to set it up there.

This but I used 16' 4x4s on one and 12' on another. All are on 5' x 5' bases made out of 2x6 treated 2x6s. Blynd elevators are only way to go. on the bases use two 2x6 floor joists for extra support. My walls are modular. make floor out of 3/4" plywood. dont shortcut and roof by using osb. it rots. Is it heavy - yes but will last a LONG time. have erected and setup all myself. 5 x5 box blinds are optimum size for one pperson. hunting two is a little cramped. Skin it with sheet metal seconds from metal mart.

oh and with a 5 x5 platform the highback office chairs from goodwill at 8-$10 a piece work wonderfully (along with a buddy heater) smile

Wow, that's a lot of support.

My platform is 6x6 on treated 2x6s and treated 3/4" plywood.

This year I'm just using the pop-up blind on my platform, but next year I want to build a box.

2x4 framed with bow windows.
Either plywood or metal walls, prolly treated plywood.
Metal roof or plywood, still undecided.

Gimme pros and cons on the roof, metal vs wood.

Of course a CON would be the metal roof would be louder in in-climate weather.
