A porcupine make a neat addition to your trophy room, just be careful getting him to the taxidermist. I have killed one really big one, but don't mess with them anymore nor do I kill Rattlesnakes anymore either, but I don't disparage those who choose to do so.

How come everybody I meet is a deer hunting expert?

This is a HUNTING FORUM not the TFF Bass Fishing Section. If you don't like people who shoot stuff that they are perfectly legal to shoot then you should go somewhere else.

You sound a little defensive there-are you also a known porcupine killer?

We don't have them here that I've ever seen but if I do I will post pics after I shoot it. I shoot every coon I can though and so far none were "coming at me".

All of them that stand still long enough. My Dad hits them with a baseball bat when he catches them in his shop eating the cat and dog food. I want to build a shop just so I can do this myself.

I have often wondered the difference in hunting, shooting and killing. There is a difference but it appears to be an individual choice.

We were predator hunting I posted a pic of a bobcat we called in and someone couldn't stand that... I thought only baby bobcats pissed people off. We lost our top predator hunter years ago due to the stupid comments by some on a hunting forum of all places...

it's not that you do stupid [censored]... we all do, you just can't be posting it all over the world and making things easy on the tree huggers and anti's.... If it was just a couple of bubbas makin themselves look like toothless, banjo pickin, fools... that's all well and good but when you boast about it in the name of huntin and sportsmanship and a few others jump in and praise you for it, it turns into a whole State and Country full of irresponsible idiots when outsiders read it... and don't think they don't......
At least maybe put your age in your profile so folks can see if it's a grownup or just a snot nosed kid makin an [censored] of themselves...
Don't get me wrong... it ain't just here... I went on a hunt a couple weeks ago with both American and Germans and some were just flat out scary the way they were shooting at anything that moved... Some pigs and deer blown to hell from several folks shooting them... When the protesters hit, they don't see (and don't want to see) the responsible and ethical hunters... They just paint them all with the brush as the nuts....

All hunters are nuts to PETA. Responsible, ethical or not. But I do agree with not giving them additional fodder.

I prefer a common sense approach to what needs to be killed and what doesn't......Trouble is we all have may have a slightly different view of the definition.

If I'm away from camp/house/buildings, I tend to leave animals of most all sorts to themselves. Hogs, coyotes, and other overpopulated problems will be shot on sight as possible. Porcupines and 'coons are safe unless they come in to the human area. A Porcupine can do a whole lot of damage to a whole lot of stuff. They love chewing on sweat stained tool handle and will gnaw their way into buildings on top of being a threat to canines.

Sure we can all live together, but some of us get tired of sharing I guess.

Just sayin'....Flame on

Very active member left the forum. He is on the predator posse I believe now. I have seen him on TV a few times. Good guy that would help anyone out.

Didn't mean my smart [censored] remark to get everyone up on their high horses, maybe I just should have said I never seen anyone post a trophy porcupine before. At least maybe could have had a story behind it, you know, "My dog got drunk and fell in the sippy hole and that's when my fat mother in law started screaming about a porcupine under the double wide that was chewing through the satellite tv wire so I had to borrow a wheelbarrow from my neighbor Clyde, but he didn't want to help out with the porcupine cause he was still mad about the horse caving in the top of the septic tank, anyway I put a peanut on top of some tannerite and that porcupine got fooled into grabbing that peanut and I shot that sumbitch blowed up real good so I had to take picture for the insurance guy anyway after that tannerite bomb put a hole in the floor and the wood stove fell through the hole and my fat mother in law didn't even thank me for getting rid of that damn porcupine."

Good lord this forum amazes me sometimes. Cant believe hunting is still legal with all of the in fighting. Why is it wrong for someone to kill a porcupine? Just because everyone doesnt agree with it that doesnt make it wrong. The antis are going to hate us no matter how we act and thats a fact.

I accidentally shot a PETA member's hairless cat last year because I thought it was a baby chupacabra and I've always heard those taste the best(the old ones are stringy and tough). When I realized my mistake, I spent two whole days slow smoking that cat over mesquite, hickory, and old-growth California redwood, and you know what? That witch wouldn't even TRY a bite! I even offered up a side dish of double-digit largemouth bass, but it was a no-go and she said she was going to spread my name all over the TFF. I'm so ashamed, I hope my poor dead momma don't see my name mentioned over there...

Some people haven't been able to tell the difference between killing and hunting.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.
