My buddy shot a 6.5 year old last week on the northern side of the county that was chasing and rutted down hard.

I hunt just across the Tom green county line in sterling and sat yesterday afternoon. Just a week ago the mature boys were hitting the feeders but had broke away from their Bach groups. Yesterday I only saw a couple young bucks and some very skiddish doe hitting the feeder. Usually a sign of the oncoming rut in our neck of the woods. When I pulled cam cards some bucks were already broken and torn up from fighting. This weekends cool weather ought to bring out the goods. Can't wait to hit the field Saturday.

Rut should be hitting full steam ahead anytime now.

I live over on nasworthy and have a bunch of back yard deer. Yesterday for the first time I noticed about 4 mature bucks coming threw nose to the ground and on a mission. It sure is tempting this time of year when I'm out back practicing with the bow.
