My wife bought me a Browning Abolt White Gold in 25-06 to ease the pain of turning 30 the other day. I've never seen a rifle quite like it with the Octagon barrel and the maple stock. I can't wait to shoot it.

The Browning White Gold is the best looking maple gun I have ever seen. Some guns just don't look right in maple. That gun is beautiful. The octagon barrel is sharp too.
Congrats

Pain of turning 30? Seriously? Talk to me when you turn 50, or in my case 52. Now to the rifle, absolutely beautiful! Your a lucky man! It's too purdy to shoot tho!

I made a post for you the other day in the OT, but it got removed since you weren't on for a while.

That is a difficult choice. The problem with silver scopes is that they never match the stainless. You can get the rings pretty close, but the scope rarely looks right.

I had a Bushnell Elite laying around in a matte finish, so I threw it on there for now. It looked a lot better than I thought it would. I think I'll stick with black, but I'll probably go with a gloss finish and something classy like a Leupold. That gold ring would look nice on a rifle like that.

I have one in 270 win. While it is a beautiful rifle my view is that it was made to shoot so I shoot it. Granted I take good care of it and do not take it out on rainy days but in all honesty I don't think it would hurt it with that finish. A light coat of wax should protect it. And if it gets dinged then that becomes part of it's history. I will never sell it so I am fine with that.

texas I am allergic to stupidity. You can't fix Stupid, but you can occasionally head it off before it hurts someone.

Went to my land and shot it yesterday. Seems to shoot great.

It'll be my main deer stand rifle. Not for brush or long distance, but for sitting in a blind over a feeder or wheat field.

I have one that doesn't show the combo very well. I'll find it and post it. It looks better than I thought it would.

The poor lighting makes the stainless look black, but that's the only pic I have right now.
