Just recently got a .17hmr from savage arms.(93r17 btvs model) I don't know if you guys know what an Osage Orange is, but it is like half coconut and half orange. So anyway I shot it and completely blew it away. That thing has some knock down power.(for a rimfire)

I had a Marlin 17 HMR with their attempt of the AccuTrigger and a heavy barrel.
That thing was the most accurate gun I've ever shot. I genuinly shot 1/2 inch groups at 100yards.
Decided to take a hog with it and somehow completely missed..or that hog just took the bullet and ran. No blood anywhere, not a drop. I swore I hit him right behind the eye from 100 yards. Still baffles me
Got rid of it shortly after would love to get another 17 but it cost about the same as 223 to shoot and i'd rather do that

If you can find them CCI makes a full metal jacket for your. 17 that's what you want for shooting hogs! Those little hollow points just explode on impact! Good for coyotes tho!

would love to get another 17 but it cost about the same as 223 to shoot and i'd rather do that I found Hornady ammo for my 17 for about 1/4 the price of 223 hunting ammo. Gave $210 including shipping for 1000 rounds of 17 HMR. Even at the stores, 17 ammo is usually $13ish/box of 50 and Hornady vmax 223 is $18-$20/box of 20.

Don't by from pawnshops go to Walmart or Academy it's a lot cheaper.

Just got the wife the Henry lever action. Model H001V .17 HMR. Fantastic little carbine. looked for over 6 mo.s before finding one. Worth the wait and effort. Our 3rd. firearm in this caliber. 1- Savage bull barrel, 1- Taurus Tracker, and now the Henry.

Got rid of it shortly after would love to get another 17 but it cost about the same as 223 to shoot and i'd rather do that At 100 yards if you hit his skull it has a low chance of penetration. At that distance you would most likely need to hit a soft spot on his head. However, it's a hog, who cares? Just shoot'em!
