After 29 years of being an insulin dependent diabetic and having foot problems, toe removals, over the years, I got an infection under the right foot. Couldn't get it to heal after hospital and rehabs and it got infected again. So dr. wackem wacks half of right foot off. It's healing well and with prosthetic brace I may have trouble driving my vehicles, which both have auto tans and cruise. Wife hates to drive other than locally in Ft Worth area. So would appreciate feedback on what has worked for you or someone you know to drive again. Have checked on net and talked to Advanced Mobility of Tx. They have the right or left handed system to control the gas and brake pedal or left foot accelerator. That way you use the left foot to drive. Any other options anyone is aware of?
Thanks, Clubby

If you don't like the way I drive, stay off the sidewalk.
If life gives you lemons, make lemonaide.

Hand controls that link to the accelerator and brake pedals for the left hand. A polio victim at church used it for years.

I have been an insulin dependent diabetic for 45 years. Lost the front half of the left foot about 20 years ago and the right toes a few years later. Driving has not been an issue but walking is somewhat restricted. With good afo's I have been driving an unmodified vehicle without problems. I do have an automatic trans and that is needed but you might find it is not as difficult as you think it might be. There are a lot of options available but try what you have first. Best of luck.

Advanced Mobility knows what they're doing. Listen to them ...
And, no I have no ties to them other than using their services.

You can get hand controls cheaper (unless insurance is covering) from on line vendors like Amazon.com. I got transferable controls that I got and can transfer from car to car. These are great if traveling and getting rentals.
