I do not personally own a gun/hunting dog but I find y'alls information could be helpful to make sure I am fulfilling all the nutritional needs of my dogs. Of course one of my dogs is just an old small stray but I care about her as much as the other. I will come clean about something they get a small amount of table scraps, meat only, from the left overs if there are any the next day.
Currently I am feeding at 7 am and 7 pm. Or close to that.
I have noticed alot of people only feed once a day, and really noticed that my dogs do not eat as much in the mornings as they do in the evenings.
I am currently feeding my large dog 2 scoops in the morning, which he will probably eat 1-1.5 of, and 3-4 scoops in the evening, which he will eat almost 100% of.
My lil girl, she can have as much as she wants, she probably doesn't have much time left and she knows when to quit.
Curious as to what others do, I hate tossing food, but the barn cats love it

I feed once a day around 10am-12pm. He gets 3.5 cups of high endurance food.

we feed twice a day at 7 and 7 as well. a few of our dogs eat just fine day and night but we have a picky eater who doesn't always eat in the am... we just give her less at both meals and mix in some wet food to peek her interests.

I feed mine once a day in the evening.
Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

I feed whenever I wake up (3am-10am) and when I go to bed (9pm-2am). I feed two cups, but the volume isn't what is important. The quality is what is important. You can give your dog 10 cups of Ol' Roy and it won't have as much nutrients as 2 cups of a high end dog food.
When Izzy was about 2 years old, I fed her 4000 calories a day during hunting season and she was very healthy. I honestly don't know how much I am feeding her now since Innova had issues with recalls.

Once a day in the evenings. But you know that, you have helped me feed them.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

I feed once a day before my first martini, but they get treats during the day.
Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

The type of food will satisfy the nutritional needs not the time or schedule of the feedings.
Twice a day, about cup and a half in the morning and before bed time.
I'll take a Black Female every time.

Ive been feeding my 5mo old lab 2 cups twice a day (4 total) when I wake up and a couple hours before bed. He is over 50 pounds now and not skinny, but not fat either. He does get a bunch of exercise though.
The only treats he gets is some peanut butter smeared on his nose every few nights.

Once a day all day long and once a night all night long
Tigger If it isn't white it is not a birddog.

Just under 2 year old Vizsla Dash gets three cups in the morning, three cups in the evening - purina pro plan. And he gets most of any available table scraps. Dash eats well. He is so busy he has a hard time keeping weight on. Around 50 pounds.
9 year old Vizsla Blaze gets one cup in the morning, one cup in the evening - Blue Buffalo Senior. Very minimal table scraps or treats. Blaze on only two cups continues to hold her weight at around 65+.

7 and 7 for me. Is old Roy really not good? My dog was not eating a high end food very well. Ran out on a hunting trip. Bought some Old Roy to get by and he loved it. Just wandering.

Do any who feed in the morning before a hunt of vigorous exercise worry about stomach torsion??..I rode in a truck with a bird dog for 45 minutes trying to get it to the vet and it was the most horrific thing I have ever heard...We had no idea the kennel boy fed the dogs in the morning we went quail hunting...It died withing a hr of falling out in the field...So needless to say i feed at early evening..If we just had a pretty hard hunt Ill feed earlier around 2 or so...
