All,

I thought I would share a few pictures and an update on our season so far. Since opening morning of teal season we have harvested around 283 birds, which is way up from last year's count of 222 birds for the entire season. I hope everyone else is having as a good a season as we are and that you are enjoying this (slightly) cooler weather. Here are a few pics:

Opening morning of Teal Season, 66 birds 2 gators:

These hogs were killed with a thermal imaging scope that my boyfriend's uncle rented for the weekend. Pretty cool seeing how well it worked. They were able to sneak within yards of these pigs without them having a clue they were there. However, if you plan on renting one, I recommend getting the ipad hookup that transfers the images from the scope to the ipad, otherwise the people in the car don't get to watch the action.

Hope everyone is having a great season so far. Happy Hunting!

I'd have to ask him, but I believe he rented it from a place in Dallas and it was only around $250 for the weekend. They will give you the hookup for the Ipad for no extra charge, you just have to request it.

Very cool. To see a gator in one pic and a dude wading belly deep would make me nervous. I guess yall have tags for the gators or what? Not an internet game warden question...I'm asking because I have no clue what the regs are. I guess if you feel you are in danger you can shoot them then too??

Yes sir, we had no other choice but to race that gator out there if we wanted our birds, because he was on top of them as soon as they hit the water. He was also swimming around bumping our decoys to see if they were real. They got 15 tags this year for their land and filled 13 of them. I'm honestly not sure what the rule is if you feel you are in danger but aren't in season...

Common sense would tell me if I was scared I was about to get bit by a gator I'd shoot it...tags or no tags. I might end up doing the biggest mud stomp ever after I looked up the regs but so be it.

Did yall harvest all the hide? Take then to processors or what? I hear people only really eat the tail meat from them.

I am with you on that one. I have friends that accidentally step on them in the wintertime and never have any issues. I didn't know anyone who's had a problem with them until a guy I know posted this article about his friend getting attacked a few months ago:
http://www.chron.com/news/article/Rare-gator-attack-points-up-need-for-caution-4950242.php

We sold everything to the processor. I have eaten the tail meat before and it's good, but we didn't really want to mess with it. You can actually make a decent amount of money selling them!!

We start hunting the dogs after the first big cold front. Once the water is at a certain temp gators aren't very active anymore!

Uhm, can you please photoshop your dogs 'over excitement' on the second to last picture?
