A friend invited me to go pig hunting Sunday evening but some family stuff came up and I couldn't go. So I did what I needed to do for the family and then had a little time in the evening to do a little bow hunting. I usually take the bow and a camera. While taking pictures of a doe close to the blind, I saw a buck out of the corner of eye and thought it was the little 8 point coming in. So I was holding the camera and out walks this big 8 at 17 yards right in front of me. Never seen him before. Had to slowly put down the camera and reach for the bow. By the time I got the bow up, his butt was to me and he was walking straight away following his "hot date". I knew she was there for the feeder so I'd get another chance when it went off. So I took more pics. He came close a few times while chasing off a small buck, but they were usually quartering toward me and he wouldn't pause when he turned away. His doe finally stopped running and hid from him under a big cedar tree. He guarded her from the small buck for a while and then started going in after her. Then the feeder goes off. She gets up and comes in to the feeder... and he soon follows. Perfect broadside opportunity at 30 yards and I take it. I could hear the broadhead pop when it hit and the Luminock lit up the whole way. Arrow stuck in the ground on the far side. He turned and ran 40 yards and dropped. I took about 200 pics of does, young bucks, and the big 8 while waiting for him to come in. I'll just post the highlights. Free range deer, low fence. It was 85 degrees. His hot date:  Here comes the big 8:   Guarding his doe:  After the shot:   Main framed 8 with an abnormal point next to the left G2. 19" inside spread.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.
