That fox is hilarious! A few of those on that site are somewhat famous and pretty old. They were killed and taken back home (wherever that may be, usually a different continent) for taxidermy and the taxidermists really had no idea what the animals actually looked like and applied some imagination. I think one of those might be the deceased pet lion of one of the 18th century king's of Sweden, can't remember his name (neither the king's nor the lion's).

This is a joke right? That is...unexplainable Nope, no joke. The lion I mentioned (I refreshed my memory via Google) was a pet of King Frederick of Sweden. When the lion died he had it mounted. The story goes that the taxidermist only had the skin and bones to work with, had never even seen a lion, and had no idea what one actually looked like. The result was both hideous and hilarious, depending on your century. edited to add: That lion is still on display in a museum somewhere, I believe. I'm betting a lot of that happened.
