How far from Houston does a man have to go to get into some good prairie dog shooting? Shooting tiny holes in paper is starting to get old, no matter how much I love that little 17hmr.

The only place I have shot prairie dogs was from Lubbock on north into Colorado. But I haven't done that in years.

I've shot them from the Levelland/Lubbock area on up to the Dalhart area. The pan handle is your best bet.

That would be excellent shooting. Figure on an 8 hour day that would be 240 pdogs. Time you figure in misses and such you would well over 500-600 rounds for just one day.

My daughters learned to shoot using prairie dogs for targets in Wyoming. That was back in the '80's

We don't have any prairie dogs in New Mexico, but we do have the neighbor's cats. That is almost as much fun! The biggest difference is that you run out of targets very quickly.LOL
