Yeah, I was surprised to see that alco had the American whitetail ammo in, normally this store hardly has any ammo on hand all, and what they do have which is the regular Winchester power points are way over priced therefore I was pleasantly surprised to see the American whitetail ammo for a good price.

Shot a buck behind the shoulder today with a 95gr SST at 240 yards. Pass thru penetration and a very dead deer 50 yards from where he was hit. My first time to use the Hornady superperformance .243 ammo on a live target. Otherwise have always used 100 PsP and Hornady's 75gr HP

JThoele, Thanks for the reply. The Hornady superformance ammo is one that I was initially interested in in trying also. I am debating what ammo to use between the superformance ammo, the barnes vortex, or the Hornady American Whitetail ammo...I am really interested in are the polymer tip ammo. The ammo you used where they the polymer tip...? Again thanks for your reply.

Destroyer4570....you're not a handloader? To paraphrase old Bum, "There's folks that reload, and there's folks that aren't reloading yet."
All of the .243 factory loads I've chronographed fall WAY short of advertised velocities (like a few hundred fps short), but my sample is admittedly small.
I think I have 4 intact boxes of 100 gr Corelocks that I'll likely never shoot. Certainly not as long as I don't run out of IMR4831 and Re-22....
You should get into reloading. It's the best way I know to enjoy your hunting hobby year-round, especially during the dog days of summer.

Really pleased with Savage Axis .243 using Remington 100 grain CorLok. Dropped four out of five pigs in tracks and the fifth went bout thirty yards

As mentioned, I shoot Winchester Supremes(95gr). I took this buck and doe at 135yds. The buck was quartering away uphill, looking back. The bullet penetrated behind and below the ear where the red spot is.... he never moved. 
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

I almost bought a box of the American whitetail at alco for $24 the other day. 100 grain I would like to know if anyone has tried it also I just bought a box of American Whitetail .243 ammo today so we'll see how it does. I've always had good luck with Hornady Ammo being accurate out of my guns.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

don't think it really matters that much frankly..
but I like the 80g Barnes TTSX bullet X2 on the 80gr ttsx Crazy what that lil 80gr bullet will punch through..

Don't know if this is the right place to post this topic (moderator if this is posted in the wrong place, please feel free to remove) I was wondering how many of you use the .243 rifle to hunt deer/hogs with, also what ammo (factory) do you use.... I have used the Remington core lokt as well as most recently the Federal blue box ammo. I have found that the federal in my rifle shoot more accurate and seems to be cleaner than the Remington. I have entertained the idea of getting the more premium ammo in 243 such as Hornady Superformance or the ballistic tips from makers such as Winchester or Federal....etc, but can't really see where they would be a real benefit over the regular ammo.....So what ammo do you use, what brand do you all prefer, and do you all use the premium or regular plain ol' ammo and is there any better performance with the premium over the regular ammo....? Thank you for reading and I appreciate any and all info you all can provide. My future daughter in law killed her first deer 3 weeks ago with a Browning X bolt in .243 and she uses a Remington Core Lockt. It seems to shoot better and more consistently at 100 yards for her.
The Federal Government cannot give anything to anyone, that it has not first taken from someone else.

Jimbo, I'm looking forward to how well they do, I've used the Hornady custom ammo for my .243 years back and they have always worked great and like you stated they were very accurate in my rifle....Please keep us updated on how the American Whitetail ammo performs....
