 What deer rifle around $400

I want a deer rifle would want to stay around $400 this would be with out glass... In 30-06 or 308

A used Weatherby vanguard is hard to beat and you can probably find a clean one for less than $400 if you hunt around.

I bought a Ruger American .270 and a decent scope for $400 out the door. Shoots great. Mine likes 150g but YMMV.
If you are ever [in] Big Sandy and need medical treatment, I would go to the vet.

Be patient and find a nice used model that's had three boxes fired through it for hundreds less than the new price. Don't settle for a cheap new gun when you can get an expensive used gun for cheap.

I'm going to second the vote on a used Weatherby Vanguard.
I found a 7mm Rem Mag at Plano Pawn (great place for gun shopping) and paid $250 for it with a cheap scope. Put a little better scope on it and its a tack driving sob.
The Ruger American looks like a good bet as well, but I've been happy with my Vanguard for several years now.

CDNN's weekend sale has Ruger Americans @ $299 for the Plain Black and $329 for the Digital Grey camo in limited calibers. T'ween frt & a $20 FFL fee you can figure 'nuther $50 and give you 'nuff bux to upgrade your glass some. 3 or 4 of the Gen'l Spt goods Magazine's this fall have all been ranking the Ruger as Best in Class. Ain't pretty but repeatably efficiently accurate with no drama which is all I ask of this level of product.
I even thought of buying one to use as a Loaner or truck gun at those prices instead of the Tikka T3 SS/syn 270 & Burris that has gone visiting from time to time...PO's me that folks don't take care of my stuff like I do though so it may not ever get loaned out again.

Academy Remington 700 ADL's are $379 so you would be around $400 out the door. They usually have 30-06 and 308 in stock.

I've said it before but you can still find Remington 788's for $400 if you look around. Probably the best $400 you can spend on a cheaper rifle IMO.
