Somebody school me on LED lights. I am looking at the 42 inch LED light bars 240 watts up to 18000 lumins. What do I need to know and look for when purchasing? I am mounting this on the bimini top on my airboat. I want to be able to see what I am about to run over smile

I would say go as big as you can afford. They draw very little power for the amount of light they put off so you can run them for a long time. Those would be great while setting out decoys are first light.
Don't have to shine anyone off they will just see the glow.

Bowfishers love them because they draw so little they don't have to run a genny to power the lights

One of the other things to look at as well Wal is whats your power source going to be ? How many extra batteries do you wanna have in the boat an all that jazz . That will also determine how many watts that will be drawn vs power supply power . Also do you need a charging system like a solar trickle charger . Most of those new bars draw very little power being LED . So one good deep cycle marine battery would be good on them . A small mag light flashlight like one at academy or wally world is 100 lumens an they are super bright an have a good distance on them . 18000 lumens would be insane bright !

Light headed hat lights....850-879-2527... The owner is Kenny and he sells the best lights I have ever seen. He is a veteran and a great individual. I bought LED's for my airboat and a headlamp which both are bad##s.

drdan...that LED cube pictures for the spot look danged impressive!

Funny you posted this today WL, I was just looking at light bars yesterday. The Ranger needs more light and I don't think I can stomach a Rigid to use 3-4mo out of the year. Was looking for something else....that cube might just work.

I bought 2 of the spot cubes and they are awesome. I know rigid has good lights, but I think these are better to be honest. Kenny is a stand up guy and the lights are very well built.

You will need to know how many watts so that you can power the thing. At that size you're probably going to need a relay to power it. It will probably pull somewhere around 20 watts depending on what size and number of LEDs it has. Of course Cree seems to be the big name for the emitters.

I have a 31 inch Xtreme Series Light Bar from Bean Industries on my Rhino. It puts out about 13,000 Lumens and is incredibly bright. It draws about 15 amps/180 watts. You'll also need to consider whether you want spot, flood or combo. Combo works really well on the bigger bars. Also think about how you want to mount it. It can be distracting if the light vibrates and I'm sure it's not good for longevity

You do realize a 42 inch rigid brand is nearing. $2000 after shipping and rigging.

I definitely understand and adhere to that policy. $2000 for a light bar is way too expensive for me, all day long.

You are a little off on the price! That might be why I am not buying a $2000 light bar. I'll put a candle in a mason jar before I drop that on a light bar. Oh and btw that is not my airboat! It belongs to my wife, I get to drive it. She is the one that got in her iPad on the way home from being stuck half a day. She found that boat and said "I want that one, buy it for me." What kind if husband would I be to deprive her of her airboat?
