As many of you know, I watched a double split main beam buck all summer, only to have him bust me from 50 yards out opening morning bow season. After getting pics of him daily since I turned my camera on in July, I have gotten zero pics since then.

Was talking to a neighbor whose land is across an old logging canal, and though he doesn't shoot the big bucks, he loves to scout them. He described perfectly the deer I chased all summer after a sighting last night. I suppose it could be just in the genetics, but I'm doubting seriously another double split main beam, heavy but not wide, 5-6 year old big bodied buck with 12-13 points exists 500 yards as the crow flies across the channel. Water is probably 3-10 feet deep depending on where he crossed.

Hope they come both directions.

Yeah, he's definitely a good neighbor. Manages his property but never shoots the big bucks. Shoots does, culls, etc. Keeps the ratio right. Lets the big bucks die of old age or finds them dead from fights and mounts them then.

Can I get some of your neighbors to move closer to me? Thats a helluva deal for you, especially since you just bought this property if I remember right.

Sounds like he took a dip for a nice getaway.

But, I agree with STX, he'll come back to his "easy chair" eventually. Just may not be during the season. hammer
