Going for the hog hunt next year. But some in my group have also shown interest in coyote hunting while there. Any pointers on the best way to hunt them? I know they are all over the state but I don't know if they should invest the money in the latest calls and decoys out there. I have a jackrabbit call that I'll be using but so far that's about it. I don't want to disturb the hogs to much by hunting hard for Coyotes.
Thanks, JHOG

Fox Pro makes a good electronic call that is pretty reasonable. Try to set up with the wind either in your face or a cross wind. Always keep a eye behind you to catch them trying to wind what ever it is making the sound. Decoys do up your odds but you can get it done with out them. Here lately I have had my best luck hunting around the cattle that are calving. The coyotes love to snack on the after birth. Remember to always carry a mouth call in your pocket, just in case. I try hunt in the early morn or just before sundown for the coyotes and still have good luck at night with the hogs. If the conditions are right you can hunt coyotes all day. Good luck

No shortage of coyotes in the Mexia area. I'm a bit south of there and I've gotten 5 in the last 2 weeks. After those 5, however, I can't get another one to a call.
