Interested in what your results are. Have a feeling you will still be chasing a small group.
Still a few things to try, before kicking the Salvage down the road.

If it were me, I would take the money to be spent on new trigger, scope and stock and buy a new Tikka T3 in the calibre of your choice. A moderately priced scope on top and you will have a combination that would be hard to beat. The Tikka is boringly accurate with a sweet adjustable trigger.

did the diy trigger job, took off stock, checked for contact with barrel. Retorqued all bolts. Actions screws. Scope bases, rings. Ran some barnes vor-tx tsx 168gr through yesterday. Got groups down to about 2 inches if I put bags under the magwell. If out further groups would get sloppy again. Will be ordering new stock soon. Two is better than 8+ I was getting. But still disappointed. Ha I basically bought a savage action since im having to switch everything out to make it accurate... Was really hoping for a lower cost accurate deer rifle, guess not lol

As they say, you get what you pay for. Like you I started out with less expensive rifles and was never really satisfied. I bought more and more rifles that where what I thought to be in my price range. As it turns out none were really what I wanted. So I sold them and started purchasing more expensive rifles. The difference was amazing. No longer did I have to think about new stocks, triggers and scopes. It turned out that one rifle I bought was "the one". Trigger was amazing, stock fit like it was made for me and it didn't make any difference what scope I put on it. It shot 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards and less with reloads. It is my go to rifle while all the others collect dust in the safe. The rifle is a Sako 85 Bavarian in 270 win. Expensive yes, worth the money absolutely. Like I said you get what you pay for.

if it was a savage with an acutrigger I would seriously call savage and ask a few questions they may have you send it to them and fix your problem

No, not accutrigger. Just a regular ridiculous heavy one lol. I may be contracting savage tomorrow though because I feel I shouldn't have this issue and have to trouble shoot this much on a brand new rifle that is suppose to be much more accurate.
