HighBrows showed up on camera for the first time in 2011. In 2012 we put him on the hit list, but nobody had any encounters with him. The general consensus was that he was maxed out on antler growth this year as he sprouted a ninth point: We arrived at our hallowed hunting grounds in time for a Friday afternoon hunt. I sat until the cloud cover ended my hunt early. With the thick overcast and rapidly diminishing light, a 225 yard shot 10 minutes before the end of legal shooting time (6:00-ish) was pushing a good/ethical shot, even if something had shown up. The feeder never went off so after climbing down from my tower and getting the truck, I decided to go pull the camera and check the feeder. Maybe I could salvage a Sunday morning hunt out of this setup. When we got back to the cabin, I checked the pictures in reverse order. There was a picture of me in front of the camera at 6:17 and HighBrows had been there at 6:13 (three minutes after LST and 5-10 minutes after I climbed out of the blind. To put it mildly, I was frustrated - this was HighBrows's and my third close call since October. The Saturday morning hunt was uneventful with no deer coming to the stand. The highly anticipated weekend was shaping up to be a complete bust. I pulled myself away from the Aggie Game Saturday afternoon and went back to the same setup HighBrows had visited almost every evening since we got cameras up and running this summer. I decided to make a slight change this time and setup about 100 yards away from where my tower is. I hollowed out a place in a brush pile and continued to refresh my phone for updates on the Aggie game. Other than one squirrel the field was void of deer - again. I started getting ready for the long walk back to the truck about five minutes before legal shooting time was up when there was some movement in a small point of briars and underbrush 50 yards to my 2 o'clock. Out steps a VERY jumpy HighBrows. He stutter stepped as I raised the rifle, but gave just enough hesitation for us to end our chess match. I have put a tape to him so y'all feel free to throw age and score guesses at him.

Real happy for you. Great story, your face says it all!
We kept it as a pet for several months until it got run over by a truck. Then we ate him.
