So, try as I might, I can't seem to make any part of a crane other than the breast palletable. If all I eat is the breast, is that waste of game? How much do I have to eat to avoid a ticket?

Well yes really. I shot one before work last week, took it to work, breasted it, shared it with the guys for lunch, and threw the carcass in the bed of my truck(there is no dumpster at work). Still had it when I went out that evening. So would a GW ticket someone for having a carcass that had not been kept in edible condition other than the breast meat that had already been eaten?

If you are seriously looking for advice, the serious answer is you would only eat the breast. I don't know if this a joke or not.
I like spoonie, his humor is dryer than my duck lease.

I really hate to do what I am about to do, because it will be very painful for you.

No, you must also eat the feet
Any creature in my vicinity that possesses an explosive penis is going to be killed.

I usually cut out the breast meat and then grind the remaining carcass up for sausage. If I'm in a hurry, the whole bird gets grinded up into hamburger.

They sure are nicer in the deer portion of the forum! I've never hunted many birds other than dove, but I cooked a whole goose last year, and ate legs and thighs from all the pheasant I've killed, but it only took a couple of cranes to figure out the breast was the only thing any good. After the first few I only saved the breasts, and never thought about it till I was leaving work with the eight hour old carcass in my truck.(again, no dumpster at our shop)
Thanks for the info. Breast only and no worries.

No, you must also eat the feet That is very bad advice. Apparently this man is a topwater. You must eat everything BUT the feet. You might get away with leaving the bill, but you'll be paying a hefty fine if the warden catches you leaving anything else.

Feathers must also be used in homemade pillows I realize there has been only one real answer and that this isn't it, however, if I can add to the laughter, I did save the feathers from the goose for this purpose. I like a feather pillow, and there's just something kinda cool about a pillow stuff with feathers from a bird you killed.'

Are we talking whooping crane or sandhill? The law varies a little bit...

Thanks for the info. Breast only and no worries. You will not find a more judge mental, jealous, competitive group than Duck Hunters. So if you're going to hang around here you better have pretty thick skin or else go away. If you really read the laws, you don't have to eat any of it. Once you get it to your home and final destination you can let your chihuahua make sweet love to it and use it for a nightstand. If go with breasting it.

This....................wow!? You can try this.........seriously. Trim the remaining pieces parts of the Crane, or chihuahua.......cut up into cubes and mix with ducks of different varietys. I then make Carne Guisada out of it as it really cooks the meat down well. Throw it on a tortilla with cheese and pico and enjoy. Lastly, you are correct.......they are a lot nicer on the deer side of the forum!!?

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting.......holy kaka.....What a Ride!
