Ok let me start this off with a big thanks to Bobby G (Granch) for getting me hooked up with the owners of this ranch and working it all out for me to get over there and get some hunts in with these great guys. Ok not sure where to begin as this was a rollercoaster of events over a 3.5 day period. Day one, I pull in te gate about 5:15am and was greeted by the owner and we talked for a few mintues as Bobby pulled in to see if we couldnt make something happen and find this deer on the ranch. We head out bow in hand that morning and bobby sat in another spot to watch for him also. We had several nice deer come in and ofcourse no show jones didnt come to visit where I was but Bobby caught a glimps of him where he was sitting. Later that morning we do some stalking driving and everything else we can think of trying to locate what part of the ranch e is cruising but nada. Day one evening hunt, same results with a bruiser of an 8 that came in that was very hard to pass which would be in the mid 160s. Day 2 morning hunt, we moved locations still no big boy but the action was still good as the bucks are starting to push the does around some and getting puffed up. Mid day day 2 we do some rattling and spot and stalk and still cant seem to locate either of the 2 deer we are after so were walking back toward where we parked the ranger and Brian the owner says real quietly theres your deer as he is leaning his head to the right, we get behind a big oak and I knock an arrow and proceed to get around where I have a shot op. on video and as I grunt to stamd him up he is like a lightning bolt and is gone before I know what has just happened. With a feel of disbelief and sicking that the giant we were after just vanished once again was rough but we werent going to give up yet. Go get set up later that evening at another location and nope you guessed it, he didnt show up again. Fast forward to day 3 morning hunt. He came in fast and pushed a doe out on us from out of nowhere at this set up but never presented me with a bow shot and did not return. Day 3 evening hunt we never saw him but at this point that huge 8 came back in and gave me every shot I wanted at 15 yards with my bow and as tough as it was to pass that brute of an 8 I had in the back of my mind that big framed typical we have been chasing so I was determined to get him down. That night we had soem beers and grilled steaks as we previewed the footage from the past hunts and encounters with no show jones and it made it hard to sleep once again. Final morning we get up and head out to get in a pop up we set up where he has been seen some close to a food plot. Day breaks as 4-5 deer enter the plot and one of them is a 150" buck puffed up and thinks he is the boss of the woods. He was fun to watch but keeping our eyes peeled ol no show comes in at 6:50 to the right about 75 yards and feeds in very very very slowly. About the time he stepped into my shooting lane that 150" buck crashed into him and ran him off, so now another let down. Well he made a full circle and come right back in and we are ready. He comes into the window and im ready for him, he pts him left leg forward I let him have it, he is smoked. He didnt make it 50 yards before pilling up. The clebration begins and Im pumped as Im 99% sure I just broke the 200" mark and my new personall best. We get out take pics etc and get a tape on him and he went 202-4/8" as my new personall best buck to date. Thanks again for getting me hooked up with these guys Bobby and wish you could have stayed but he had to leave on day one to guide one of our vets which was very cool of Bobby.
